    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a refrigerator comprising a shelf the position of which in the body or door can be changed.

[0002] In refrigerators, shelves mounted to the door or body, whereon food and beverage containers are disposed, are used. While high containers are disposed on the shelf, one or more shelves above this shelf are required to be removed or replaced. When low containers are disposed, dead spaces remain between the said container and the shelf above. In the state of the art, foldable or telescopic shelf assemblies are used in order to create flexible usage volume providing containers of several sizes to be stored.

[0003] On the refrigerator door, on the inside of the door, shelves, which generally extend along the width of the door and which are arranged as one on the top of the other, are located. More than one shelf can be present side by side in one line and when high items such as bottle are disposed on the shelf below, one of the shelves arranged side by side can be slid on the other by means of a rail assembly, thus the volume, which is emptied by the shelf slid on the other, is taken advantage of. However, jamming can occur in telescopic, rail shelf assemblies and performing a sliding movement by one shelf on the other gets harder. Furthermore in such embodiments, movable part of the shelf generally remains unused and the item carrying capacity of the shelf is decreased.

[0004] In the Patent Document No CN101025325, a retractable and extendable bottle base is explained. A refrigerator according to the preamble of claim 1 is disclosed in DE102007022573 A1.

[0005] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a refrigerator comprising shelves whose position in the body or door can be changed and thus provide flexible usage possibilities to the user in disposing items.

[0006] The refrigerator realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the claims.

[0007] The refrigerator of the present invention comprises a fixed shelf disposed in the door or body and a rear wall, a base, a movable shelf having two side walls and arranged side by side with the fixed shelf in the opened position, wherein the side wall is adjacent to the side wall of the fixed shelf, and which is attached to the fixed shelf by means of a hinge located on the front side of the side wall.

[0008] The movable shelf is folded to the side of the fixed shelf facing the inner volume of the body in the closed position whereto the movable shelf is brought by being rotated around the vertical hinge axis wherein it is connected to the fixed shelf and in the situation wherein the movable shelf and fixed shelf are disposed on the door, they become arranged adjacently as one in front of the other from the inner wall of the door into the body.

[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixed shelf and movable shelf comprise rectangular bases and are arranged side by side adjacently along the short sides of their bases such that they will form two different loading volumes closed on three walls in the first position, and are arranged adjacently as one in front of the other along the long sides of their bases such that they will form one loading volume closed on all four walls in the second position.

[0010] In another embodiment of the present invention, the fixed shelf and movable shelf have the same depth and items having this depth can be disposed on their bases in the first position, items having twice the depth in comparison to the first position can be disposed on the common support surface formed by their bases in the second position.

[0011] In another embodiment of the present invention, the fixed shelf and movable shelf comprise open front faces that face the inside of the body or door in the first position and when the movable shelf is brought to the second position, the front faces this time face each other.

[0012] In another embodiment of the present invention, the refrigerator comprises separators that can be attached to the fixed shelf and/or movable shelf and detached therefrom, closing the open front faces and serving as a guardrail that prevents the items disposed on the bases of the fixed shelf and movable shelf from falling when the movable shelf is in the first position and dividing the common support volume of the fixed shelf and movable shelf into partitions in the second position of the movable shelf.

[0013] In another embodiment of the present invention, by means of the detent means located on the fixed shelf or movable shelf, the movable shelf is enabled to be locked to the fixed shelf in the second position.

[0014] In another embodiment of the present invention, the refrigerator comprises holders located on the movable shelf or on the inner wall of the body or door and enabling the movable shelf to be fastened to the inner wall of the body or door in the first position.

[0015] The movable shelf, furthermore, can easily be detached from the hinge by being raised and taken out by the user when desired.

[0016] The refrigerator realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

Figure 1 - is the schematic view of a refrigerator.

Figure 2 - is the schematic view of a refrigerator wherein the door shelf is at the beginning of the rotation movement.
