[0001] The present invention refers to an article of clothing. More particularly, the present
invention refers to an article of clothing that although it can be used in various
fields including work and with different functions, this article of clothing still
maintains pleasant aesthetic features.
[0002] The invention is described below when implemented on a blouson but it is to be intended
that the invention can be implemented also on a different garment, its peculiarities
being maintained.
[0003] According to prior art, when a person needs to manifest his/her presence even in
low light conditions, for example along a road in the nocturnal hours, this person
needs to get a high visibility waistcoat including refractive fabric strips.
[0004] However, these waistcoats are uncomfortable to wear since they have to be worn over
other garments.
[0005] In order to solve said problem, articles of clothing such as jackets, shirts, trousers
and more including strips of refractive fabric have been introduced on the market.
[0006] The presence of such refractive strips makes said articles of clothing not very pleasant
from an aesthetic point of view because these garments with strips of refractive fabric
are assimilated to workwear.
[0007] However, if on the one hand, in case of light shortage, said garments carry out their
function and are, therefore, worn willingly, when on the contrary the light conditions
are good, said kind of garment is often worn reluctantly.
[0008] An article of clothing comprising a band that extends around one of its appendages,
such as a sleeve or trouser leg, is disclosed by patent document
US 2008/178363 A1.
[0009] An object of the invention is to overcome the above mentioned problems and still
others through the realization of an article of clothing which in case of low light
makes visible the presence of the person wearing the article of clothing in question.
[0010] Another object of the invention is to provide an article of clothing that while acting
as a high visibility garment is pleasant from the aesthetic point of view.
[0011] Another object of the invention is to provide a high visibility article of clothing
that is comfortable and simple to be worn and used in its function of making visible
the person who wears it.
[0012] These and other objects are achieved according to the invention through an article
of clothing with a main structure, comprising at least one movable flap and fastening
means for the one or more flaps.
[0013] In particular, the flap comprises an upper portion with a base fabric and a lower
portion, said lower portion being arranged on the opposite face of the flap with respect
to the face of the upper portion, and a refractive material being applied thereon.
[0014] The flap is fixed along an own flap edge to the main structure of the article of
clothing, so that the flap may flutter between a first position in which the lower
portion is placed adjacent to the main structure and therefore, it is hidden, the
upper portion being left in sight, and a second position in which the upper portion
is placed adjacent to the main structure and therefore, it is hidden, the lower portion
with the refractive material being left in sight.
[0015] The fastening means for the fastening of the flap to the main structure of the article
of clothing allow to fix the flap to the main structure alternately according to the
first position or according to the second position.
[0016] Through this configuration, it is possible to provide one or more flaps on an article
of clothing such as a jacket, a shirt, trousers, and so on. On one side, the one or
more flaps are made of a normal fabric equal or matching to the fabric of the garment
while on the other side, the one or more flaps include refractive material, visible
even in low light conditions.
[0017] According to the requirements, the flap can be locked in the desired position, that
is showing refractive material in the case it is preferable for the person to manifest
his/her presence especially in low light conditions, or the refractive material is
hidden to better the aesthetic yield of the article of clothing.
[0018] Advantageously, the fastening means include at least one strip fixed through at least
one fixing edge of the strip to the main structure and disposed adjacent to the flap.
Through such strip, the flap in the first position and/or in the second position can
insert itself with at least one own portion between the strip and the main structure
of the jacket, so as to be locked in said position.
[0019] In particular, the fastening means comprise a first strip disposed adjacent to a
first side end of the flap, and can possibly have a second strip disposed adjacent
to a second side end of the flap, this second end being opposite to the first end.
[0020] Advantageously, at least one of the first strip and second strip may have a rectangular
shape and be fixed to the main structure on three sides so as to obtain a pocket shape
inside which the first side end and/or the second side end of the flap is disposed,
so that the first side end and/or the second side end are inserted into the pocket
in both the first position and the second position.
[0021] Besides, the first strip and/or the second strip may have an elongated shape and
be disposed perpendicular to the edge of union of the corresponding flap with the
main structure, so that the flap can insert itself with the first side end and/or
the second side end between the first strip and/or second strip and the main structure
of the article of clothing in both the first position and the second position.
[0022] In order to make more visible the person who wears the article of clothing according
to the invention, the flap may be disposed on the front part of the article of clothing.
[0023] Likewise, in order to make visible the user even when the user has turned his/her
back, at least one flap may be arranged on the rear part of the article of clothing.
[0024] In case the garment in question is a blouson, the flap or at least one flap may be
arranged on at least one of the sleeves of the blouson.
[0025] Advantageously, at least one tab is fixed to the flap and is adapted to be grabbed
to displace the flap attached to it.
[0026] Besides, the upper portion of the flap may be a prolongation of the fabric of the
main structure of the article of clothing so as to facilitate the realization of the
article of clothing according to the invention.
[0027] Advantageously, the flap may be sewn on the main structure by thermo-taping so as
to reinforce the union.
[0028] Finally, in the phase of completion of the garment, the flap may be folded downwards,
in the first position, and pressed with a pressing-ironing machine so as to keep it
in this position more easily.
[0029] Further features and details of the invention can be better understood from the following
specification which is provided by way of a non-restricting example, as well as from
the annexed drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a schematic front view of an article of clothing according to the invention,
namely a blouson, conceived according to a first mode of use;
Figure 2 is a schematic front view of the article of clothing in Figure 1, conceived
according to a second mode of use;
Figure 3 is a schematic rear view of the article of clothing in Figure 1, conceived
according to the first mode of use;
Figure 4 is a schematic rear view of the article of clothing in Figure 1, conceived
according to the second mode of use.
[0030] With reference to the annexed figures, number 10 denotes an article of clothing produced
according to the invention, in particular a blouson.
[0031] The blouson 10, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, comprises anteriorly a first front flap
12 and a second front flap 14 which are substantially rectangular and are disposed
horizontally and fixed on the respective upper long side of the front portion of the
blouson.
[0032] The front flaps 12, 14 are formed by two portions attached to each other. In particular,
the first front flap 12 includes a first base fabric 16 and a second fabric on which
a first refractive material 18 is applied; likewise, the second front flap 14 includes
a third base fabric 20 and a fourth fabric on which a second refractive material 22
is applied.
[0033] Concerning the base fabric, it is to be intended a common fabric, for example the
same fabric used to make the front part of the blouson 10, or another fabric having
the same color or a color different from the color of the entire blouson that can
be coupled with the fabric of the blouson.
[0034] Thus, according to whether the first front flap 12 is directed downwards as shown
in Figure 1, or upwards as shown in Figure 2, this flap shows the first base fabric
16 or the first refractive material 18, respectively.
[0035] Likewise, when the second front flap 14 is directed downwards as shown in Figure
1, this flap shows the second base fabric 20 while when the same second flap 14 is
directed upwards as shown in Figure 2, this flap shows the second refractive material
22.
[0036] A left front strip 24 and a right front strip 26 are provided on the front part of
the blouson 10.
[0037] In particular, the left front strip 24 is fixed through its outer edge to the front
part of the blouson 10 and is adjacent to the first front flap 12, so that the outermost
portion of the same first front flap 12 can be received between the left front strip
24 and the front portion of the blouson 10.
[0038] Likewise, the right front strip 26 is fixed through its outer edge to the front part
of the blouson 10 and is adjacent to the second front flap 14, so that the outermost
portion of the same second front flap 14 can be received between the right front strip
26 and the front portion of the blouson 10.
[0039] Thus, through the left front strip 24 and the right front strip 26, both front flaps
12, 14 can be secured in position when being completely lowered and showing the base
fabric 16, 20 as from Figure 1, or completely raised and showing the refractive material
18, 22 as from Figure 2.
[0040] In the first position, the blouson 10 can be used as a common blouson while in the
second position, the blouson 10 is conceived as a high visibility garment to be used
in low light environments thanks to the presence of the refractive material 18, 22
in sight.
[0041] Similarly to what has been described previously, and with the same results, as visible
in Figures 1 and 2, a first side flap 28 is fixed on the right sleeve and a second
side flap 30 is fixed on the left sleeve.
[0042] The first side flap 28 and the second side flap 30, which are substantially rectangular,
are fixed along a long edge and comprise, on a side, a third base fabric 32 and a
fourth base fabric 34, respectively, visible in Figures 1 and 3, and on the opposite
side, a third refractive material 36 and a fourth refractive material 38, visible
in Figures 2 and 4.
[0043] In order to lock in position the two side flaps 28, 30, a first side strip 46 and
a second side strip 48 are fixed to the left sleeve and the right sleeve, respectively,
adjacent to the respective side flap 28, 30.
[0044] In particular, the side strips 46, 48 are fixed precisely along the edge opposite
to the one that is adjacent to the respective side strips 46, 48.
[0045] In this way, in order to fix in a raised or lowered position the two side flaps 28,
30, it is sufficient to turn the flap in question upwards or downwards, respectively,
and position the side edge of the same two side flaps 28, 30 under the respective
side strip 46, 48.
[0046] In order to facilitate gripping and handling, the first side flap 28 and the second
side flap 30 comprise a first tab 40, visible in Figures 3 and 4, and a second tab
42, visible in Figures 1 and 2, which are fixed centrally to the respective side flap
28, 30.
[0047] Even the rear portion of the blouson includes a system similar to what has been previously
described with respect to the front portion.
[0048] Indeed, a rear flap 50 is fixed on the upper part of the rear portion of the blouson
10 and is provided with a central tab 52 that is useful for the gripping and the displacement
of the same rear flap 50.
[0049] The rear flap 50 is strip-shaped and is fixed to the main structure of the blouson
10 along a long edge of the flap.
[0050] Besides, the same rear flap 50 comprises, on one side, a base fabric 54, visible
in Figure 3, which is analogous to the base fabrics described above, and on the opposite
side, a fabric on which refractive material 56 is applied.
[0051] In a way similar to what previously described, a left rear strip 58 and a right rear
strip 60 are fixed to the main structure of the blouson 10, laterally to the rear
flap 50; said rear strips are useful to keep in a raised or lowered position the rear
flap 50 whose edges are received between the same strips 58, 60 and the main structure
of the blouson 10 itself.
[0052] As explained above, each of the so-described flaps 12, 14, 28, 30, 50 consists of
an upper piece and a lower piece, respectively a base fabric and a lower fabric on
which refractive material is applied.
[0053] The base fabric can be substantially an extension of the fabric of the yoke of the
blouson 10, joined to the lower fabric.
[0054] The seam of each flap on the main structure or bottom of the blouson 10 is ensured
also through thermo-taping. Besides, once the flap has been made, its optimal positioning
is perfected by means of a pressing-ironing machine which is put on the flap turned
downwards.
[0055] According to a first variant of the invention, each flap can be provided with an
upper strip and a lower strip which are respectively positioned inferiorly and superiorly
to the relative flap e arranged parallel to it. When the flap is directed downwards,
the outermost edge of the same will be received between the lower flap and the main
structure of the blouson to which it is bound. Likewise, when the flap is raised so
as to show the refractive material, the outermost edge will be received between the
upper flap and the main structure of the blouson to which it is bound.
[0056] A technician of the sector may provide changes or variants that are to be considered
as included in the scope of protection of the present invention, which is defined
