[0001] The present invention relates to an accessory hanging items, in particular clothes/clothing,
for furniture, in particular cupboards or cabinets or similar bodies presenting accommodation
rooms.
[0002] The object of the present invention also relates to a piece of furniture, in particular
a cupboard or a cabinet or a similar body presenting an accommodation room, equipped
with the aforementioned accessory hanging items.
[0003] The object of the present invention is used in the sector of furniture and accessories
intended for furniture, in particular for cupboards.
[0004] As is known, the cupboards are equipped with special bars hanging clothes which allow
the positioning of clothes and/or clothing according to orderly positions inside the
respective accommodation rooms.
[0005] Generally, the aforementioned bars hanging clothes are located in a fixed way according
to high positions whereby the movement of clothes/clothing requires the use of suitable
movement rods.
[0006] In order to facilitate accessibility to the bars hanging clothes and, consequently,
to facilitate the movement of hanging clothes/clothing, some movable devices hanging
clothes have been developed.
[0007] An example of such movable devices hanging clothes is described in detail and illustrated
in document
US6105795. In particular, this movable device hanging clothes is equipped with a bar hanging
clothes, the ends of which each engage a respective vertical support bar. Each vertical
support bar is hinged to a special support plate which is fixed to a respective side
wall of the accommodation room of the respective cupboard.
[0008] The movable device hanging clothes also comprises a control rod, which is rotatably
engaged, on one side, with the bar hanging clothes and, on the other side, has a grip
handle that can be grasped manually by a user.
[0009] By acting on the grip handle, the user can pull the bar hanging clothes which moves
along an arched path by rotating, together with each support bar, around the hinge
point of the latter to the respective support plate.
[0010] The bar hanging clothes can therefore oscillate between a lifted position, at which
it lies inside the accommodation room and a lowered position, at which it lies outside
the accommodation room of the cupboard, facilitating the access thereof by the user.
[0011] Although the movable accessory hanging clothes described above facilitates the movement,
positioning and removal manoeuvres of the hanging or to be hung clothes/clothing,
the Applicant has found that they are not free from some drawbacks and can be improved
in various respects, mainly in relation to the flexibility of use of the same, the
load capacity, the accessibility to clothes/clothing, as well as the ease of actuation
by the users.
[0012] In particular, the Applicant has found that the structural configuration of the oscillating
device hanging clothes is limited to a single bar hanging clothes, presenting significant
limits in terms of flexibility of use and storage capacity of clothes of different
types such as for example Winter and Summer clothes.
[0013] In other words, in accordance with the structural configuration of the oscillating
device hanging clothes described above, in the event that it is necessary to allocate
the same bar hanging clothes to only one type of clothes/clothing, for example Summer
or Winter clothes, it is necessary to store the other type in another accommodation
room of the same cupboard or in an accommodation room of a different cupboard.
[0014] In the event that the bar hanging clothes is allocated to both Summer/Winter types
of clothes/clothing to be stored, the quantity of hanging garments for each type is
somewhat reduced with the risk of having to store excess garments in another accommodation
room of the same cupboard or in an accommodation room of a different cupboard.
[0015] It should also be considered that the movement of the bar hanging clothes from the
raised position to the lowered position is somewhat difficult due to the presence
of lifting springs which tend to bring the bar hanging clothes back and keep it in
the lifted position.
[0016] In other words, since the bar hanging clothes is equipped with an assisted lifting
mechanism, which provides precisely for one or more return springs, in order to prevent
users from having to exert significant efforts to bring the bar hanging clothes back
to the lifted position, the return springs counteract the downward movement of the
bar hanging clothes, in any case forcing the user to exert considerable efforts to
lower the bar hanging clothes.
[0017] The main object of the present invention is to propose an accessory hanging items,
in particular clothes/clothing, for furniture, in particular cupboards or cabinets
or similar bodies presenting accommodation rooms as well as a piece of furniture,
in particular a cupboard or a cabinet or a similar body presenting an accommodation
room, equipped with this accessory, capable of solving the problems found in the prior
art.
[0018] An object of the present invention is to propose an accessory hanging items which
has a high load capacity for hanging or to be hung items, both in terms of the type
of items that can be stored and in terms of the number of items that can be hung.
[0019] It is also an object of the present invention to propose an accessory hanging items
which greatly facilitates and simplifies the operations of positioning, movement and
removal of the hanging or to be hung items.
[0020] It is also an object of the present invention to propose an accessory hanging items
the movement of which can be actuated without excessive efforts by users, even when
there are significant loads, caused by the number and/or type of hanging items weighing
on the system.
[0021] The objects specified above and others, are substantially reached by an accessory
hanging items, in particular clothes/clothing, for furniture, in particular cupboards
and a piece of furniture, in particular a cupboard or a cabinet or a similar body
presenting an accommodation room, equipped with this accessory hanging items, as described
and claimed in the following claims.
[0022] By way of example, the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of
an accessory hanging items, in particular clothes/clothing, for furniture, in particular
cupboards or cabinets or similar bodies presenting accommodation rooms and a piece
of furniture, in particular a cupboard or a cabinet or a similar body presenting an
accommodation room, equipped with this accessory hanging items, is now reported in
accordance with the present invention.
[0023] Such description will be made herein below with reference to the accompanying drawings,
provided for indicative purposes only and therefore not limiting, wherein:

items of the previous figures, mounted on a piece of furniture whose dimensions are
different from the piece of furniture shown in Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a schematic side view of the accessory hanging items of Figure 3, represented
according to two positions which are relevant for the purposes of the present invention;
Figures from 5 to 8 are schematic side views of the accessory hanging items of the
previous figures, representative of the variations in the levels of some portions
of the accessory hanging items;
Figure 9 is a schematic perspective view of an accessory hanging items for furniture,
in particular cupboards, in accordance with a third embodiment of the present invention;
Figure 10 is a schematic perspective view of a detail of an accessory hanging items,
in particular clothes/clothing, for furniture, in particular cupboards, in accordance
with a fourth embodiment of the present invention.
[0024] With reference to Figures from 1 to 9, number 1 generally indicates an accessory
hanging items, in particular clothes/clothing, for furniture 2, in particular cupboards
or cabinets or similar bodies presenting accommodation rooms, in accordance with the
present invention.
[0025] As can be seen in Figures from 1 to 10, the accessory hanging items 1 comprises at
least one support element 3 engageable with a wall 2a of an accommodation room 2b
of a respective piece of furniture 2, in particular a cupboard.
[0026] Preferably, the accessory hanging items 1 comprises two support elements 3 engageable
with respective opposite walls 2a of the accommodation room 2b of the respective piece
of furniture 2.
[0027] The accessory hanging items 1 further comprises at least one element hanging items
4 operatively engaged with at least one support element 3, at at least one point of
engagement 5 identifiable on the latter.
[0028] In accordance with the embodiments illustrated in Figures from 1 to 10, the element
hanging items 4 is engaged with both support elements 3 at corresponding points of
engagement 5 identified therein.
[0029] Advantageously, the element hanging items 4 is movable between at least two different
levels so that the hanging items 6 can be lifted or lowered according to the needs.
[0030] According to an advantageous aspect of the present invention, the accessory hanging
items 1 further comprises at least one movement mechanism 7 operatively interposed
between each support element 3 and the element hanging items 4 to allow the latter
to move, optionally through a translation along a predetermined direction X, between
a first limit position (figures 1, 4, 5 and 10), in which each point of engagement
5 of the element hanging items 4 with the support element 3 is arranged inside the
accommodation room 2b of the respective piece of furniture 2 and a second limit position
(figures 4 and 6 to 9), in which each point of engagement 5 of the element hanging
items 4 with the support element 3 is arranged outside the accommodation room 2b of
the respective piece of furniture 2.
[0031] Preferably, the movement mechanism 7 is arranged to bring the point of engagement
5 of the element hanging items 4 with the support elements 3, to the second position,
at a distance of not less than 100mm from the piece of furniture 2, preferably not
less than 200mm, even more preferably not less than 250mm.
[0032] Optionally, the movement mechanism 7 provided between each support element 3 and
the element hanging items 4 is equipped with a movement absorbing system (not illustrated
in the appended figures) which intervenes at the end part of the displacement of the
element hanging items 4 between the first and second position so as to slow down the
latter before it stops in the first and/or second position. In this way, the movement
of the element hanging items 4 is made more fluid, avoiding abrupt stops at the end
of the travel that the latter can have between the first and second position.
[0033] Going into more detail, the element hanging items 4 of the accessory hanging items
1 comprises at least one bar hanging items 8 designed to support a plurality of items
6 by means of respective intermediate support elements 9 which are not part of the
invention. In the case in which the items 6 consist of clothes/clothing, the support
elements can consist of hangers or similar cloth hangers, for example. If, instead,
the items 6 consist of any other object, such as, for example, hanging clothes holders,
hanging shoes holders, hanging all-purpose holders and the like, the support elements
can consist of special hooks or similar engagement elements, for example.
[0034] The accessory hanging items 1 further comprises at least one support bar 10, preferably
two substantially parallel to each other, each engaged, on one side, with the bar
hanging items 8, and operatively engaged, on the other side, with the respective support
element 3 so as to allow the bar hanging items 8 to move between at least two different
levels.
[0035] Still with reference to Figures from 1 to 10, the element hanging items 4 of the
accessory hanging items 1 further comprises at least one auxiliary bar hanging items
11, which, optionally, extends substantially parallel to the bar hanging items 8.
[0036] Also the auxiliary bar hanging items 11 is engaged with the support bars 10 or with
the support bars 10 on the opposite side with respect to the bar hanging items 8 so
as to define a substantially squared assembly, preferably substantially rectangular.
[0037] Each bar hanging items 8, 11 of the element hanging items 4 is extendable, preferably
telescopically, to allow the adjustment of the dimensions of the latter with respect
to the dimensions of the accommodation room 2b of the respective piece of furniture
2.
[0038] The adjustment of the lengthening of each bar hanging items 8, 11 further allows
a dimensional compensation between the element bar hanging items 4 and the accommodation
room 2b of the respective piece of furniture 2 in the event of slight structural defects
of the latter or defects caused during the mounting phase.
[0039] It also allows the element hanging clothes 4 to be accommodated inside most of the
cupboards, regardless of their size.
[0040] In order to allow the engagement of bulky items 6 between a bar hanging items 8,
11 and the other one while preventing these items 6 from interfering with one of the
bars holding items 8, 11, the length of each support bar 10 is not less than 100mm,
preferably not less than 110mm.
[0041] In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the accessory
hanging items 1 comprises, for each provided support bar 10, at least one element
for the constraint to the respective support element 3. Each constraint element ensures
the engagement between the respective support bar 10 of the element hanging items
4 and the respective support element 3 through the respective movement mechanism 7
interposed therebetween.
[0042] In detail, the constraint element of each support bar 10 defines, through the respective
movement mechanism 7, the corresponding point of engagement 5 of the support bar 10
of the element hanging items 4 with the respective support element 3.
[0043] The constraint element of each support bar 10 of the element hanging items 4 is located
according to an intermediate position at the respective ends of said support bar 10,
preferably at a midpoint of said support bar 10.
[0044] In other words, the constraint element is located between the bar hanging items 8
and the auxiliary bar hanging items 11.
[0045] According to a preferred aspect of the present invention, the constraint element
of each support bar 10 is a rotational constraint element which defines an axis of
rotation Y, which is transversal, preferably substantially perpendicular, to a respective
wall 2a of the accommodation room 2b of the piece of furniture 2.
[0046] The element hanging items 4 is therefore rotatably movable around the axis of rotation
Y whereby the bar hanging items 8 and the auxiliary bar hanging items 11 rotate around
the constraint elements to take on different levels.
[0047] The constraint element of each support bar 10 allows a rotation of the element hanging
items 4 around the axis of rotation Y by an angle of not less than 140°.
[0048] By rotating the element hanging items 4 around the axis of rotation Y, it is possible
to lift or lower the items 6 hanging on the respective bars hanging items 8, 10.
[0049] Depending on the rotation angle of the element hanging items 4 around the axis of
rotation Y, it is possible to invert the positions of the bars hanging items 8, 11
by moving these items 6 close to or away from the user's access area.
[0050] Advantageously, the freedom of rotation of the element hanging items 4 allows the
bulk replacement of items 6 of a first type (for example Summer clothes/clothing)
with items 6 of a second type (for example Winter clothes/clothing) and vice versa.
[0051] If the items 6 of the first type are hanging on the bar hanging items 8 and the items
6 of the second type are hanging on the auxiliary bar hanging items 11, it is sufficient
to rotate the element hanging items 4 by 180° around the axis of rotation Y to invert
the positions of these bars hanging items 8, 11 and move one of the two types of the
items 6 close to or away from an area accessible to a user.
[0052] In detail, the rotation of the element hanging items 4 around the axis of rotation
Y defined by the elements for the constraint of the latter to the support elements
3 allows a bar hanging items 8, 11 to be lifted/lowered with respect to the other
bar hanging items 8, 11.
[0053] Preferably, the element hanging items 4 is equipped with an absorbing mechanism (not
shown in the appended figures) capable of slowing down the rotation thereof around
the axis of rotation Y in order to guarantee the safety of users in the event that
heavy loads are placed on the bars hanging items 8, 11.
[0054] Advantageously, the rotation absorbing mechanism of the element hanging items 4 is
operatively associated with the constraint elements.
[0055] In addition, the damping action of the rotation speed of the element hanging items
4 is adjustable so that, according to the load placed on the bars hanging items 8,
11, it is possible to determine the level of slowing down of the rotation speed of
the element hanging items 4.
[0056] Advantageously, each bar hanging items 8, 11 comprises a plurality of grooves (not
visible in the appended figures), preferably transversal, capable of keeping the clothes
at a constant distance between them and avoiding, during the rotation of the element
hanging items 4, that the hanging items 6 can slide along the respective bar hanging
items 8, 11 moving towards an end of the latter.
[0057] According to a further advantageous aspect of the present invention, the grooves
of each bar hanging items 8, 11 are oriented obliquely with respect to the longitudinal
extension of the latter, so as to reduce the sizes of the items in relation to the
depth of the accommodation room 2b of the respective piece of furniture 2.
[0058] Alternatively, it is possible to provide for each bar hanging items 8, 11 to be knurled
or to have a wavy extension or to have a serrated extension.
[0059] In accordance with an advantageous aspect of the present invention, each support
bar 10 of the element hanging items 4 is extendable, preferably telescopically, so
as to move at least one of the bars hanging items 8, 11 away from/close to the respective
constraint element and, consequently, to the respective point of engagement 5.
[0060] In this way it is possible to adjust the distance between the two bars hanging items
8, 11, both according to the volume available in the respective accommodation room
2b of the piece of furniture 2 and to the maximum dimensions of the hanging or to
be hung items 6.
[0061] It should also be considered that the adjustment in the lengthening of the support
bars 10 of the element hanging items 4 also allows an adjustment of the balancing
of the latter with respect to the constraint elements, as well as to the points of
engagement 5 with the support elements 3 by means of the respective movement mechanisms
7.
[0062] In order to make the accessory hanging items 1 easy and simple to pack, store and
transport, reducing the overall sizes thereof, the bars hanging items 8, 11 and the
support bars 10, consist of segments, with reduced dimensions, which can be assembled
between them by means of corresponding known joining elements.
[0063] In detail, the length of each segment provided for the assembly of the element hanging
items 4 is comprised between 40mm and 60mm, preferably not greater than 50mm.
[0064] In accordance with the embodiment illustrated in Figures from 1 and from 4 to 8,
the movement mechanism 7 comprises, for each support element 3, at least one movement
bar 12 on which the respective constraint element of the element hanging items 4 is
engaged.
[0065] Advantageously, the movement bar 12 of the movement mechanism 7 is slidably engaged
with the respective support element 3 to allow the displacement of the respective
constraint element and, consequently, of the respective point of engagement 5, between
the first and second position.
[0066] The movement bar 12 of each movement mechanism 7 is advantageously extendable, preferably
telescopically, to allow the displacement of the respective constraint element and,
consequently of the respective point of engagement 5, between the first and second
position.
[0067] In accordance with the embodiment illustrated in Figure 9, each movement mechanism
7 can provide, alternatively to the movement bar 12, for at least one pantograph extension
13 on which the respective constraint element of the element hanging items 4 is engaged,
which identifies the respective point of engagement 5 of the latter with the corresponding
support element 3.
[0068] As can be seen in Figure 9, each pantograph element 13 is extendable to allow the
displacement of the respective constraint element and, consequently of the corresponding
point of engagement 5, between the first and second position.
[0069] According to a further alternative embodiment illustrated in Figure 10, each movement
mechanism 7 comprises at least one lever system 14 on which the respective constraint
element of the element hanging items 4 is engaged.
[0070] The lever system 14 of each movement mechanism 7 is switchable between a retracted
condition in which it has a down configuration and an extended condition to allow
the displacement of the respective constraint element and, consequently, of the respective
point of engagement 5, between the first and the second position.
[0071] As can be seen in Figures from 2 to 4, the accessory hanging items 1 further comprises
at least one locking device 15 operatively interposed between at least one support
element 3 and the element hanging items 4.
[0072] In detail, the locking device 15 is switchable between a non-operating condition
in which the element hanging items 4 is free to move between at least two different
levels and an operating condition, in which the element hanging items 4 is locked
with respect to the respective support element 3.
[0073] In accordance with the embodiment illustrated in Figures from 2 to 4, the locking
device 15 comprises at least one interference pin 16 or other similar interference
element arranged to interact with at least one of the support bars 10 of the element
hanging items 4 and the respective support element 3 or with an abutment structure
17 associated therewith.
[0074] When the locking device 15 is in the operating condition, the interference pin 16
which engages the respective support element 3, the respective abutment structure
17 engages a respective seat 18 formed in the respective support bar 10 of the element
hanging items 4, counteracting any rotation of the latter around the axis of rotation
Y.
[0075] When the locking device 15 is in the non-operating condition, the interference pin
16 disengages the respective support bar 10 of the element hanging items allowing
it to rotate around the axis of rotation Y to invert the position and change the levels
of the bars hanging items 8, 11.
[0076] Of course, the locking device 15 can be different from the one described above and
illustrated in Figures from 2 to 4.
[0077] As an alternative to the illustrated embodiment of the locking device 15, it is possible
to provide that the locking device is formed directly on at least one of the elements
for the constraint of the element hanging items 4 with the support elements 3 so that
the locking device is able to act directly on the respective points of engagement
5 allowing or inhibiting the rotations of the element hanging items 4 around the axis
of rotation Y.
[0078] Advantageously, the element hanging items 4 further comprises at least one actuation
bar 19 (Figures from 1 to 3), preferably two, each engaged with a respective bar hanging
items 8, 11 to allow the rotation movement of the element hanging items 4 by any user.
[0079] In addition, the accessory hanging items 1 is also equipped with at least one motorization
device or a similar movement actuation device (not illustrated in the appended figures),
preferably an electric motor, which can be activated so as to put the element hanging
items 4 in rotation around the axis of rotation Y and/or to displace the latter between
the first and second position.
[0080] The operation of the accessory hanging items 1, so far mainly described structurally,
is as follows.
[0081] Being equipped with two bars hanging items 8, 11, the accessory hanging items 1 allows
the storage of two parallel rows A, B of items 6, arranged on two different levels,
inside the accommodation room 2b of the piece of furniture 2, as can be seen in Figures
from 1 to 5.
[0082] In this situation, the element hanging items 4 is in the first position, that is
with the points of engagement 5 with the respective support elements 3 arranged inside
the accommodation room 2b of the piece of furniture 2.
[0083] The row A of the items 6 of the bar hanging items 8 is at a higher level than the
row B of the items 6 of the auxiliary bar hanging items 11.
[0084] When it is necessary to more easily access the items 6 of both rows A, B or to invert
the position of the latter, it is necessary to act on the movement mechanism 7 interposed
between each support bar 10 of the element hanging items 4 and the respective support
element. 3 to displace the element hanging items 4 from the first to the second position
(Figures 6 to 8), at which the constraint elements and, consequently, the points of
engagement 5 of the element hanging items 4 with the support elements are located
outside the accommodation room 2b of the respective piece of furniture 2.
[0085] When the element hanging items 4 is in the second position (Figures from 6 to 8)
it is possible to switch the locking device 15 from the operating condition to the
non-operating condition in order to free the element hanging items 4 so as to invert
the position of the bars hanging items 8, 11 and, therefore, of the rows A, B of the
items 6 carried by them, by rotating the element hanging items 4 around the axis of
rotation Y, i.e. around the respective constraint elements and the points of engagement
5 (Figure 7).
[0086] When rotation is complete, the rows A, B of the items 6 of the bars hanging items
8, 11 are inverted (Figure 8) whereby it is possible to switch the locking device
15 from the non-operating condition to the operating condition to lock the rotation
of the bars hanging items 8, 11 and bring the items 6 back into the accommodation
room 2b of the piece of furniture 2 by displacing the element hanging items 4 from
the second to the first position.
[0087] The accessory hanging items and the piece of furniture equipped with this accessory
solve the problems observed in the known technique and achieve important advantages.
[0088] First of all, the accessory hanging items according to the present invention has
a high storage capacity in that it allows the orderly positioning of two rows of items
inside the respective piece of furniture which can easily and readily be inverted
according to the users' needs. This feature allows the simple bulk replacement of
a first type of items with the second type and vice versa, while maintaining all the
items stored inside the respective piece of furniture.
[0089] It should also be considered that the easy mobility of the element hanging items
outside the accommodation room of the piece of furniture, together with its ability
to rotate around the axis of rotation defined by the respective constraint elements,
considerably facilitates the items to be picked from the bars hanging items as well
as their positioning on the bars hanging items.
[0090] It should also be noted that the accessory hanging items easily adapts to any type
of furniture since the bars hanging items, such as the support bars, can be adjusted
quickly and easily.
[0091] In addition, the rotation of the bars hanging items is facilitated by the same balancing
of the element hanging items. In fact, the items of one bar hanging items act as a
counterweight to the items of the other bar hanging items so that the manual rotation
of the element hanging items, even under conditions of significant loads, is not tiring
for users.
