(57) A railroad car bogie (10) comprising spaced wheelsets (12, 14) has axle ends (16)
of each wheelset journaled in bearings (18, 22) which in turn are carried respectively
by an adapter (24. 26). Each adapter is connected to a side portion (34) of a U-shaped
steering arm (28,30) so as to form a wheelset-steering arm unit (35, 37). Elastomeric
devices (40) join the side portions (34) of the steering arms (28, 30) to pedestal
jaws (46, 48) formed at ends of a pair of spaced side frames (50, 52). Interposed
between the wheelset-steering arm units (35, 37) is a connecting device (78) joining
the steering arms (28, 30) at a central location proximate to a bolster (58) of the
bogie (10).
