[0001] The subject of this invention is improvements to creels for spinning machines; to
be more specific, the subject of this invention is means known in themselves which
are used in other machines with other functions, being installed on. creels for spinning
machines.
[0002] Improved spinning machines which use the invention are. also the subject of this
invention.
[0003] One purpose of this invention is to be able to use very heavy supply bobbins having
even small threads forming on . them, with the assurance that the bobbin will be pulled
in rotation without false drafts of the roving.
[0004] Next, it is a purpose of this invention to enable very large supply bobbins having
a weight of even four kilos or. more to be used in the spinning machines.
[0005] The improvements applied to the creels serve, therefore, to cause the roving, which
in itself is slender, not to . break during the normal work of unwinding the bobbin,
this . work being carried out by the pulling action which the roving exerts on the
bobbin.
[0006] A further purpose of this invention is to enable the roving to be pre-positioned
as wished in automatic creels . wherein the bobbin is automatically replaced when
it is finished.
[0007] The practice is known of installing in the finishers a. spiral which acts as a tension
leveller for the roving as it passes during the processing.
[0008] According to this invention this spiral is installed in spinning machines immediately
upstream from the pulling rollers and serves to give the roving a greater consistency;
that is to say, it serves to cause the roving to assume a false twist which induces
a greater consistency in the roving itself.
[0009] This greater consistency causes the roving not to break readily, and it therefore
becomes able to exert a harder pull on the bobbins, thus enabling bigger and heavier
bobbins to be employed.
[0010] Furthermore, the greater consistency determined by the spiral in an automatic creel
enables the drafting system to take and work the new roving independently as the latter
arrives.
[0011] The invention, therefore, envisages a spiral twisting means positioned upstream from
the first pulling rollers of. the drafting system, whereby the spiral twisting means
acts as a guide for the roving being fed so as to provide consistency in the roving
before the latter enters the drafting system.
[0012] Moreover, the spiral twisting means, being connected . to the automatic creel, serves
to position the roving and . predispose it automatically for delivery to the drafting
system since the gripping of the roving is made possible automatically owing to the
false twist imparted to it.
[0013] It is known that the roving as it leaves the bobbins, . whether it be of the type
with one or two threads, and as it is used in spinning machines, has a very low consistency;
and it is known that during the phase of the unwinding of the bobbin itself it is
possible for the roving to be sheared or to lose fibres, thus interrupting the regular
work flow.
[0014] . Being advantageously positioned immediately upstream . from the drafting system,
the spiral serves precisely to prevent this drawback.
[0015] . Thus the invention can be applied to normal spinning machines or to spinning machines
with an automatic creel and with pre-positioning of the roving.
[0016] The invention, therefore, is shown to consist in improvements to creels for spinning
machines, whether such creels are stationary or automatic, the improvements being
characterized by the fact that a spiral twisting means, known in itself, is installed
immediately upstream from the drafting system and acts in such a way that it imparts
to the roving. a false twist, which in its turn induces in the roving itself a greater
consistency.
[0017] The invention is also concerned with spinning machines, whether they have a stationary
or an automatic creel, characterized by envisaging upstream from the drafting system
at least one spiral twisting means that serves to impart a false twist to the roving.
[0018] . With the help of the attached tables let us now see -some non-restrictive preferential
solutions, which are given as examples.
Fig. I gives a general diagram of a possible spinning machine with a stationary creel;
Fig. 2 gives a general diagram of a possible spinning machine with an automatic creel.
[0019] . The invention envisages that the bobbins 10 may be of a type with one or two rovings
and may be positioned on a stationary creel or on an automatic creel with or without
a mo
- vable trolley to carry bobbins 19.
[0020] . The roving, or rovings, II unwinding from the bobbin 10 owing to the action carried
out by the drafting system 14-15 passes or can pass through a device 18 that checks
the roving before the latter reaches the pulling roller 14 of the drafting system
14-15..
[0021] Before reaching the pulling roller I4 of the drafting . system, the roving II enters
a spiral twisting means 13, which provides the roving II with a false twist that gives
. said roving II a greater consistency precisely in the zone . where it is most likely
to break.
[0022] At the delivery end of the drafting system 14-15 the thread 17 is wound onto bobbins
16.
[0023] The spiral twisting means 13 can also be installed on a movable trolley carrying
bobbins or on an automatic creel 19; in such a case the twisting means 13, besides
providing the. roving II with greater consistency during processing, can . also serve
as a pre-positioning element so as to facilitate. the gripping and delivery of the
roving II to the organs 14. which pull or grip the roving itself II so as to send
it on. the drafting system 14-15.
[0024] We have described a preferential solution here, but variants are possible for a technician
in this field. Thus the proportions and sizes can be varied, and parts can be added.
or removed; it is possible to instal the spiral twisting means I3 before the device
which checks the roving even if . from experiments carried out by the author it has
been shown that the best solution is obtained when the spiral twisting. means 13 is
located near the pulling roller I4, etc. These . and other variants are possible within
the scope of the . invention.
