Coating of polymerical substrates |
(57) A surface layer of a polymeric material. for instance an epoxy or other polymeric
printing substrate, is prepared to receive a metal or other adherent coating by penetrating
the surface layer with a first reactant and then with a second reactant that reacts
in the surface layer to form pits that extend from the surface into the surface layer.
The first reactant may comprise a pyrrole and the second reactant may comprise chromic
acid.
