(57) An electrical contact terminal (2) of the type contained in a connector housing (46)
comprises a yoke portion (4) having extending therefrom, a contact arm (6) and a spring
arm (8). The contact arm (6) has an electrical contact portion (34) on one side thereof
and a bearing portion (32) on the other side which bears against a bearing portion
(44) on the spring arm (8). When the contact arm (6) is flexed toward the spring arm
(8) by a mating part, such as a circuit board (24), the contact force is developed
in the spring arm (8) and the contact arm (6) serves primarily as a conductor. The
terminal (2) and the contact arm 6 serves primarily as a conductor. The terminal 2
is produced by stamping sheet metal without subsequent bending, so that all parts
of the terminal lie in the plane of the sheet metal from which it was produced. Terminals
of the type described are used in electrical connectors for printed circuit boards
which are also described.
