(54)	Spliceless ribbon structure having leader and trailer and method of manufacture therefor

(57) A ribbon structure wherein the leader (64) and trailer (66) are formed by adhering over the inked side (14) of the ribbon a thin adhesive faced tape or foil (56) and where the tape or foil (56) is adhesively engaged with the substrate (12) in a region having had all or part of the ink removed therefrom to provide an adherent surface. The tape or foil (56) is further provided with a region (62) of adhesive engagement for attachment to supply and take-up spools.
