Flame resistant yarns and fabrics |
(57) An inherently flame-retardant yarn comprises a multifilament glass fibre core covered
with a staple fibre adhered to a polymer coating around the core. The yarn can be
knitted on a weft knitting machine without damage to the glass fibre filaments, and
the resulting knitted fabric is of particular use in providing a flame-retardant sublayer
for upholstery and soft furnishings.
