(57) A blade holding device (20) is provided for use with a blade (12) and a cylinder
(10), the cylinder having a longitudinal recess (14) defined in the periphery thereof
parallel to the axis of the cylinder (10). First and second wedge members (22, 24)
are fittable within the recess (14), each wedge member (22, 24) having an inner face
(23, 25) and an outer face. A plurality of spring members (58) is included, along
with a resilient strip (60) for holding the spring members (58) in relative positions.
The wedge members (22, 24) are insertable within the recess (14) such that the resilient
strip (60) holding the spring members (58) is disposed adjacent the outer face (26)
of the first wedge member (22). The blade (12) is disposed between the resilient strip
(60) and a wall (16) of the recess (14). Relative movement of the wedge members (22,
24) is performed by a bolt (29) threadingly engaged with an end of the second wedge
member (24) and held in relative position with respect to the cylinder (10), whereby
the blade (12) is clamped between the first wedge member (22) and the recess wall
(16).
