(54)	Forming helical grooves in tubes

(57) A method and apparatus for forming helical grooves (6) in the outer surface of stainless steel tubes (2). The technique utilizes a forming roller (16), which forms the groove and a shoe (22) follows in the groove which has just been formed a short distance behind the roller so as to eliminate buckling of the tube.
