(57) An apparatus suitable for pumping heat is described in which an absorption heat pump
comprising a generator (1), a condenser (4), an evaporator (3) and an absorber (2)
is coupled to an adsorption heat pump (16) comprising an adsorber (19) and an evaporator/condenser
(20) and wherein there are means (8) for transferring heat of condensation from the
condenser (4) of the absorption heat pump alternately to the external load (28, 29)
and to the evaporator/ condenser (20) of the adsorption heat pump (16). There are
means (18) for transferring heat of adsorption and sensible heat from the adsorption
heat pump (16) to the generator (1) of the absorption heat pump.
