(57) In a pilot-operated hydraulic valve, a non-return valve (7) in the valve inlet (25) is arranged to operate simultaneously as a variable-orifice flow sensor. By combining the non-return and flow-sensing functions in the non-return valve (7) a significant saving in space and weight is achieved.
