(57) An auxiliary heat exchanger (6) is adapted to be mounted on top of a domestic water heater in the form of a wrap-around boiler (1) for an open fire in the hearth (2), the heat exchanger (6) comprising heat exchanging surfaces which lie in the path of flue gases rising through the wrap-around boiler (1) when the heat exchanger (6) is installed and is in use, and which surfaces define flues (7,8) through the heat exchanger (6).
