(57) A writing instrument comprises a barrel (1), a slidable tube (27) slidably housed
in said barrel (1), an inner tube (16) housed in said slidable tube (27) and having
an opening (18) defined in a distal end thereof, said inner tube (16) being coupled
to said barrel (1), a writing member (10) disposed in said innertube (16) and having
a writing tip (14) on a distal end thereof. Between the slidable tube (27), the barrel
(1) and the writing member (10) a mechanism is interposed for allowing said writing
member (10) to move forward with a time delay with respect to advance of said slidable
tube (27) when the latter is moved forwardly. A sealing body (21) is disposed in the
slidable tube (27) in the vicinity of a front end thereof, said sealing body (21)
being pressable by an inner surface of a front end of said slidable tube (27) into
said openig (18) in said inner tube (16) to seal said opening (18) when said slidable
tube (27) is in a most retracted position. Between the writing member (10) and the
inner tube (16) a seal is disposed at a position behind said sealing body (21).
