(54) Pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation for make-up applications incorporating a reinforcing member

(57) The pellet-like compact incorporates a given mesh gauze (7) formed from a substantially rigid material and having a crowned configuration, which is subtended by an annular element (6), the usable surface thereof being in the shape of a sphere segment.

Description

[0001] This invention relates to a pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation for make-up applications incorporating a reinforcing member.

[0002] As is known, make-up cosmetic products include foundation and face powder, which are sold either in powder or compact forms.

[0003] Face powder and foundation compacts, in particular, differ by that they include suitable binders and are manufactured in pellet form.

[0004] Also well known is that such compacts are liable to exfoliate easily, especially at the edge region, whereon a pressure is, of course, exerted with one's fingers while rubbing gently a compact on one's face.

[0005] Such compacts, moreover, are conventionally produced by casting the mixture of powder, dyes, and binders, while still in the fluid state, into flat- bottomed molds, thereby they have flat parallel faces. This circumstance makes a correct application of the colored powder on one's face not easily achievable, also on account of the large surface size of the pellet contacting the face, or with the brush used for applying face powder or foundation.

[0006] It should also be noted that with conventional preparation methods, considerable difficulties are encountered in removing the formed pellets from their molds, when some pellets may easily get cracked.

[0007] It is an object of this invention to remove such prior shortcomings by providing a face powder or foundation pellet-like compact for make-up applications which can be structurally strong.

[0008] Another object of this invention is to provide a pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation, for make-up applications, which can be conveniently handled and is easily applied on the desired parts, while also facilitating the picking up of the face powder or foundation by means of a small brush.

[0009] It is a further object of this invention to provide a face powder pellet-like compact for make-up applications, which is easier to manufacture by virtue of its peculiar construction.

[0010] An additional object of this invention is to provide a face powder pellet-like compact for make-up applications, which is not liable to undergo undesired exfoliation and can avoid, both in use and handling, any smearing of one's fingers.

[0011] These and other objects, such as will be more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation for make-up applications, according to the invention, characterized in that it incorporates a given mesh gauze formed from a substantially rigid material and having a crowned configuration, which is subtended by an annular element, and characterized in that it has its usable surface in the shape of a sphere segment.

[0012] Further features and advantages of the pellet-like face powder compact for make-up applications according to this invention will be more clearly understood from the following description of a preferred embodiment of the face powder compact, as shown by way of example in the various figures of the accompanying drawing, where:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the reinforcing member for this face powder or foundation pellet-like compact;

Figure 2 shows the reinforcing member as received in a suitable mold for producing this pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation;

Figure 3 shows a vertical section view of this pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation;

Figure 4 shows a generic case designed to accommodate a set of these pellet-like compacts.

[0013] With particular reference to the reference numerals of the various figures in the accompanying drawing, this pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation for make-up applications is generally indicated at 1 and comprises, in accordance with conventional practice, a mixture of powders which are additivated with appropriate dyeing substances and binders adapted to favor the mechanical cohesion of said powders.

[0014] More specifically, that mixture of powders, dyes, and binders, as indicated at 2, is cast into a structure 3 placed onto a mold 4 provided with a corresponding hollow housing 5.

[0015] Said structure 3 comprises an annular element 6, formed from a strap of suitable width and thickness, which subtends a gauze 7 of a convenient mesh and having a crowned configuration and acting simultaneously as a container for the face powder and/or foundation.

[0016] In practice, and as may be gathered from Figures 2 and 3, the mixture is cast from the side which will form the rear one of the compact two faces, thereby the usable surface thereof may be advantageously given the shape of a sphere segment to make its use more convenient.

[0017] Further, the provision of the annular element 6 allows the compact to be correctly grasped, protecting it against excessive compression and avoiding smearing of one's fingers.

[0018] The gauze 7, in turn, ensures a denser compact, while favoring the cohesion of the mixture cast into the structure 3.

[0019] It is also to be noted that the particular configuration imparted to the compact 1 facilitates its stable insertion into specially provided housings, arranged in a generic case 8 containing make-up products, while facilitating a correct grasping and/or removal thereof.

[0020] It will be appreciated from the foregoing and from the various figures of the accompanying drawing, that the pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation for make-up applications according to this invention is more functional and practical to use.

Claims

1. A pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation for make-up applications, characterized in that it incorporates a given mesh gauze (7) formed from a substantially rigid material and having a crowned configuration, which is subtended by an annular element (6), and characterized in that its usable surface is in the shape of a sphere segment.

2. A pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation, according to Claim 1, characterized in that it comprises a mixture (2) including powders, dyes, and binders, which is cast into a structure (3) placed on a mold (4) having a corresponding concave housing (5), said structure including an annular element (6) in the form of a strap having given width and thickness dimensions and subtending said gauze (7), casting being effected from that side which is to form the rear face of the compact (1) two faces.

3. A pellet-like compact of face powder or foundation, according to the preceding claims, characterized in that its edge is fully protected by said annular element (6), the latter also perfoming supporting functions for said gauze (7).
