(54) Apparatus for tensioning bolts and studs


(57) A hydraulically-operable tensioning device is disclosed for tensioning studs and bolts for a flanged connection. The device has a bayonet-type connection to the bolt or stud and is provided with means which prevent operation of the tensioning device unless it is correctly located on the bolt or stud.
