(57) Improved fabric washing detergent composition especially but not exclusively designed for washing mixed coloured fabrics comprising from 0.5 to 25% by weight of a peracid compound selected from the group consisting of organic peracids, peracid salts and peracid precursors which generate peracids by hydrolysis or perhydrolysis, and from 0.002 to 2.5 % by weight of copper, in the absence or substantial absence of a powerful sequestrant which complexes strongly with copper. The composition is effective in minimizing dye transfer but is non-effective or substantially non-effective with respect to direct fabric dye or stain bleaching.
