Ribbon coax cable connector |
(57) An electrical connector for flat transmission cable (16) comprises a body member
(18) having terminal-receiving passageways (22) and conductor-receiving passageways
(38) with a continuous recess (43) between the terminal-receiving passageways (22)
and the conductor-receiving passageways (38). Electrical terminals (24) are disposed
in the terminal-receiving passageways (22) for terminating electrical conductors (12,
14) of a flat transmission cable (16) which are disposed in respective conductor-receiving
passageways (38). Cover members (20,21) are secured onto the body member (18) and
they include projection members (58) engaging the respective electrical conductors
(12, 14) in the continuous recess (43) to provide strain relief for the conductors
(12, 14). According to another aspect of the present invention, the cover members
(20, 21) include projections (52, 54) that are disposed on each side of the conductor-receiving
sections (36) of the electrical terminals (24) to prevent the electrical conductors
(12, 14) from disconnecting from the conductor-receiving sections (36).
