    (54) Convertible clothing

    (57) A layered clothing is disclosed. It has jumper-shaped main clothing and sub-clothing for wearing over the main clothing. Since both faced hook and fastener are adequately provided, the sub-clothing can be reversibly engaged to the main clothing. In this way, the layered clothing can serve for the usual purposes such as cold protection, rain protection, etc. In addition, it can offer variation of outlooks using only one sub-clothing and one main clothing by selectively reversibly engaging them in several different ways.

    Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to layered clothing and more particularly to reversible layered clothing comprising a jumper-shaped main clothing including a pair of sleeves and a sub-clothing including a pair of sleeves and shoulders, or a vest, and wherein said sub-clothing is designed to be reversibly put on together with the main clothing. In this way, the sub-clothing can be worn together with sportswear such as for skiing, skating, golf, field and track . athletics, baseball or the like, or with a suit or a jacket. Depending on an occasion, the sub-clothing alone can be reversibly worn as a fishing vest. In addition, the jumper-shaped main clothing alone can also be worn in a reversible manner. In other words, this invention relates to layered clothing of the type which can be selectively combined and worn for various purposes.

[0002] As known, there is a shoulder clothing which alone can be worn over sportswear such for skiing, skating, golf, field and track athletics or the like, or over a suit, etc. as layered clothing. Also, there is such layered clothing for cold protection wherein inner underwear having pair of sleeves is worn together with sleeveless outer.underwear by extending the sleeves of the inner underwear from openings on the shoulders of the outer underwear as disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Application Post-Examination Publication No. 58(1983)-4883.

[0003] That is, the conventional layered clothing is designed to wear as underwear, and no prior art teaches clothing for putting on as the outer underwear over the inner underwear in a reversible manner. Furthermore, since the inner underwear has only an upper half including a pair of sleeves, it will offer an unusual outlook if such inner underwear alone is worn.

[0004] Also, there have been proposed many layered coats for putting on the upper half of a body. However, the body lengths of the conventional clothings are almost same as the comparative lengths of the suits or jackets. Therefore, they become much alike in respect of silhouette when worn together. The attempt to make differences therebetween creates excessive design and is not desirable..Moreover, since the body lengths are so long as the suit length, it is hard to fold them into compact sizes to carry with. In addition, no consideration is paid in view of resource saving with respect to the consumption amount of the cloth.

[0005] The present invention is accomplished in view of the above.

    SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a layered clothing wherein a,sub-clothing is reversibly engageable with respect to a jumper-shaped main clothing so that design variation can be selectively enjoyed when worn together.

[0007] Another object of the invention is to provide layered clothing wherein the sub-clothing alone can be worn as a fishing vest in a reversible manner.

[0008] A further object of the.invention is to provide layered clothing wherein the jumper-shaped main clothing alone can be worn in a reversible manner.

[0009] A still further object of the invention is to provide sub-clothing which is compact and easy to carry with and in-expensive to manufacture.

[0010] In order to achieve the above objects and others, there is essentially provided layered clothing comprising a jumper-shaped main clothing; sub-clothing to be put on said main clothing; and means for engaging said sub-clothing to the main clothing. The main clothing and the sub-clothing are designed in such a manner as to be reversible with respect to each other.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS

[0012] Preferred embodiments of the invention will be described hereunder with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein like numerals denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several sheets.

[0013] Referring to the drawings,l denotes jumper-shaped main clothing in Fig. 2 whereas, in Fig. 1, 2 denotes sub-clothing reversibly engageable with respect to said main clothing 1 and having, as will be described, sleeves 13, 13 and shoulders. The main clothing 1 is made in a different fashion in color, material, etc. from the sub-clothing 2. la denotes a front body, lb denotes a back body and 3 denotes a neck base girth of said main clothing which is sewn in double by using such material as having a dump-proofing property, waterproofing property and heat retaining property (for example, gore tex: the product of Dupon Corp., U.S.A.).

[0014] The bottom a of the front body 2a and the back body -2b cf said sub-clothing 2 comes to a lowest end thereof at a level immediately below undrearms b thereof in this embodiment. Said front body la is divided into two right and left portions, the adjacent marginal portions of which are provided with fasteners 6,6' for detachably engaging with fasteners 5,5' provided in positions bisecting said front body 2a of said sub-clothing 2.

[0015] 7 denotes a double faced female hook provided at the lower central portion of the back face of said back body 2a. The female hook 7 is engageable at its both faces with a double faced female hook provided in the corresponding position of the back body lb of said main clothing 1. 4a denotes the foremost end portions or wrists of said sleeves 4,4 having stretching properties. 9 denotes likewise a plurality of male hooks provided on the neck base girth 3 of said main clothing 1 which are to be detachably engaged with both faced hooks 11 provided in the corresponding positions of the neck base girth 10 of said sub-clothing 2. 12 denotes a collar of the sub-closing.

[0016] Said main clothing 1 is formed in a triplex structure comprising an outer cloth having dump-proofing property, water proofing property and heat retaining property, an inside material formed of heat retaining and heat insulating material and a lining cloth. Among the foregoing, said core tex for example is used as the outer cloth and an artificial cotton for example coated with a polyester resin/aluminum, or a feather is used as the inside material. In this case, when an inside cotton is used, it offers a heat retaining property of from about. -5 to 20°C, and when a feather is used, it offers a heat retaining property of about -30°C. Likewise, said lining cloth is formed of such material as having moisture and gas permeabilities and also having a soft touching property such as, for example an arms tricot. 13a denotes the foremost ends or wrists of said sleeves 13,13 of said-sub-clothing 2 which have stretching properties.

[0017] 14 denotes a fastener adapted to serve as engaging means for opening and closing the central bisecting portions of said front body portion la of said main clothing 1. 15a, 15b denote fly-fronts provided along the fastener 14 for hiding thereof. 16, 17 denote male and female hooks provided in the corresponding positions of the fly-fronts 15a, 15b which are to be overlapped. These are formed in a front and back duplex structure.

[0018] Since the first embodiment of the present invention is constituted as mentioned above, when the invented clothing is used in the extremely cold season particularly for outdoor sports such as skiing, skating, golf, field and track athletics, etc., the sub-clothing 2 is put on the main clothing 1 as shown in Fig. 3.

[0019] In this case, since the sub-clothing 2 is different in front and back materials, colors, etc. from the main clothing 1, the sub-clothing 2 is worn over the main clothing 1 in a reversible fashion, i.e., the fastener 14 is opened and the both faced female hook 7 provided at the center of the inner side of the back body 2b is detached from the both faced male hook 8 provided in the corresponding position of the main clothing 1 and at the same time, the both faced female hook 11 provided at the neck base girth 10 of the sub-clothing 2 is detached from the both faced male hook 9 provided in the corresponding position of the main clothing 1.

[0020] In this way, the main clothing 1 and the sub-clothing 2 can be combined and used in six different ways in total i.e., the jumper-shaped main clothing 1 alone can be used in two ways; one for the front and the other for the reversed, and the sub-clothing 2 can be reversibly put on the reversible main clothing 1 in four different ways. The invented clothing can be used for cold protection, or as rainwear by making the sub-clothing 2 using a water- repellent material.

[0021] Fig. 5 illustrates a second embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, the sub-clothing 2' is prepared in a sleeveless shape and provided with several pockets on the front body 2'a for keeping fishing equipments. Because of the foregoing arrangement, the sub-clothing 2' alone can be put on as a fishing vest. In addition, the sub-clothing 2' can also be worn on the main clothing 1' in such a manner as to pulling out the both sleeves 4,4 of main clothing 1 through openings 20,20 defined in the shoulders of the sub-clothing 2'. Consequently, the jumper-shaped main clothing 1 alone can be worn in two different ways in a reversible manner, and the vest-shaped sub-clothing 2' alone can also be used in two reversible ways. In addition, the reversible sub-clothing 2' can be combined with the reversible main clothing 11 in four different ways, thus making 8 different ways in total. In this respect, the second embodiment is different from the first embodiment. In the drawing, 21, 22 denote both faced male and female hooks for engaging the lower half of the front body 2'a of the vest-shaped clothing 2' to the front body la of the main clothing 1.

[0022] As described in the foregoing, the present invention is constituted in such a manner as that a reversible sub-clothing is worn over a reversible main clothing. Therefore, by making the front and the back of the main clothing and the sub-clothing different in color or in material, the main clothing alone can be used in two reversible manners and the sub-clothing alone can also be used in two reversible manners. In addition, the sub-clothing can be worn over the main clothing in four different ways in mutually reversible manners thereby making the total in 8 different ways thus enabling to meet multifunction and multipurpose.

[0023] While particular embodiments of this invention have been shown in the drawings and described above, it will be apparent that many changes may be made in the form, arrangement and positioning of the various elements. In consideration thereof, it should be understood that the preferred embodiments of this invention herein are intended to be illustrative only and not intended to limit the scope of the invention.
