(57) In a cable TV system of the type having external control units located remotely from a head end, each external control unit containing tuner/converters and other electronic circuitry for distributing cable TV signals to a plurality of subscriber houses, a stabilized power supply circuit is arranged in each external control unit. A source of AC power is supplied to the stabilized power supply circuit from each subscriber connected to the external control unit through a cable TV drop cable, thereby reducing the amount of power required to be supplied by the system operator and transmitted via the cable and ensuring that each subscriber equitably shares in supplying power to the external control unit.
