(57) Apparatus for inserting conventional pile weather strip (14), for example, into a
T-slot (11) in an object (10), includes a member (24) which slides longitudinally
relative to the object (10) along the T-slot (11) and is guided so as to remain fixed
laterally with respect to the object (10) during relative longitudinal movement. A
guideway (34) for the weatherstrip (14) extends through the member (24) and is inclined
downwardly towards an exit (37) adjacent the T-slot (11). The guideway (34) also is
angled relative to the T-slot (11) to hold the backing (15) of the pile weatherstrip
(14) at an angle at which one of the flanges (20) of the backing (15) can move into
the groove (12) of the T-slot (11) through the T-slot opening (13). A finger, presser
wheel (38) or the like located upstream from the guideway exit (37) extends into the
T-slot (11) through the T-slot opening (13) and engages with the other of the flanges
(19) of the pile weatherstrip (14) to move the other of the flanges (19) into the
T-slot groove (12) through the T-slot opening (13).
