(54) Top loading swinging bucket centrifuge rotor having knife edge pivots


(57) A top loading swinging bucket centrifuge rotor is characterized by the provision of a sample container knife edge pivot element (100) which engages the sample container (48) along a substantially line contact as the container pivots from an initial to a second position. The container (48) may be inserted into the rotor (10) such that any diametrical dimension thereof is aligned with the line contact, thus avoiding the necessity of orienting the container (48) with respect to the rotor (10). A guide slot for guiding the motion of the container (48) is disposed radially inwardly of the pivot elements (100).
