(54) Apparatus for coloring an article by transfer printing


(57) @ A transfer material comprising a substrate, a layer of thermoplastic material formed on said substrate and a design layer formed on said thermoplastic layer, said thermoplastic material being heat-sensitive and having such a characteristic that it is not tacky at room temperature but activated by heating to become tacky and remain so for a predetermined period of time after said heating is terminated. The transfer material may include another layer of wax-like material interposed between the thermoplastic layer and the substrate. A method and an apparatus for coloring an article by using the transfer material are also provided.
