[0001] The present invention is concerned with an assembling device for continuous skylights
with free expansion and without dopes and without intermediate locking screws. A similar
device has been represented and
'.described in a copending Italian application for Invention patent. Nr. 19696 A/82
in the name of the same inventor Mr. Giorgio ADREANI. The assembling device described
in said application presents the peculiar drawback of a relatively complicated construction
particularly so far is concerned with the connection blak of the upper beam with the
lower beam, the centering and spacing of the upper beam with respect to the lower
beam and finally positioning of the lower beam besides an excessive overall weight
and high costs of the extrusion matrices.
[0002] The present invention aims to give a concrete solution to the problems appended to
the prior art.
[0003] According to the invention, there is provided an assembling device for continuous
skylights with free expansion without dopes and without connection screws characterized
in that provision is made for U-profiled, reinforced with ribs, connection blocks
of the beams to the caves, presenting a hole for the passage of a tension bolt, said
bolt cooperating with a omega (Ω)-profiled projection of the upper beam, the latter
being mantained centered and spaced with regard to the lower beam by spaces made of
poliammide fiber glass reinforced material, a U-profiled glass-stop abutting with
a branch of the caves and extending between the union blocks, the lower blom being
stopped by a positioning member passing through a hole of the coves that operates
as infiltration water discharge.
[0004] The above feature and some other as too the scope and advantages of the invention
will result better from the following specification of its embodiment shown in the
annexed drawings, wherein:
The Fig. 1 shows by a perspective way and partially the device according to the invention;
The Figures 2 and 3 respectively show a sectional view according to the line II-II
of Fig. 3 and an elevational view according to the arrow FA of the union block;
The Fig. 4 shows an outline Of the glass-stop;
The Figures 5 and 6 respectively show the upper beam and the lower blam, between the
two beam being represented the spacer-centering member of the upper beam;
The Fig. 7 shows an outline of the caves; it is observed that the figures 4,5,6 and
7 represent an exploded view of the essential components of the device;
The Fig. 8 represents a longitudinal sectional view of the invention device, passing
through the union block;
The Fig. 9 is a sectional view as Fig. 8 but passing out from the union block namely
through the glass-stop;
The Figures 10 and 11 represent respectively an elevational view a top view and a
sectional view according to the line XI-XI of the Fig. 10 the positioning member of
the lower beam;
The Fig. 12 schematically shows a sectional view of a skylight wherein the invention
device finds its application.
*****
[0005] With reference to the said drawings BU shows the U-profiled union block better visible
in the Figures 2 and 3. the said block being moulded from fiber glass reinforced NORYL
(Trade Mark) and suitably presenting a hole FO and stiffening ribs NE for resistance
purpose. By a known manner provision is made for a lower beam TI (Fig. 10), a upper
beam TS and an alveoulous plasticified glass plate VE between the two beams. For a
vault skylight from the Fig. 11 may been inferred the typical configuration. With
GR there is referred the caves made, as the two beams,by extruded aluminium profiles
the said caves being better visible in the Fig. 7. FV shows the glass-stop made by
extrusion and cooperating with the caves GR as better inferred by the Fig. 1.
[0006] The lower beam TI is positioned by a positioning portion PO better visible in the
Figures 10, 11 and presents a depression IN for accomodating the lower beam, and a
cylindrical projection RK passing through a hole FF"of the caves.
[0007] By a known manner the upper beam is formed with a omega (Ω)-profiled projection RI
centered with respect to the midline whereas the lower beam presents a U-profiled
projection RU between the said two projections being provided a spacer member DI made
of reinforced fiber glass polyammidic resins.
[0008] By a known way between the two beams plastic, glass alveoulous plates VE are inserted.
[0009] For tensioning the upper beam it is sufficient to sling the two branches RT
1-RT
2 between the caves and the upper beam and thereafter to assemble the tensioning bolt
BB until the requested assembling tension is obtained.
[0010] It is evident as the linear expansions of the upper beam are compensated. As it is
observed from the Figures 2 and 3 the lower branch RI of the union block is profiled
as a projection RS and cooperates with a nose NL of the caves GR.
[0011] The scopes and advantages of the invention well result from the foregoing.
1. Assembling device for continuous skylights with free expansion without dopes and
without connection screws characterized in that provision is made for U-profiled,
reinforced with ribs, connection blocks of the beams to the caves, presenting a hole
for the passage of a tension bolt, said bolt cooperating with a omega ( Ω)-profiled
projection of the upper beam, the latter being mantained centered and spaced with
regard to the lower beam by spaces made of poliammide fiber glass reinforced material,
a U-profiled glass-stop abutting with a branch of the caves and extending between
the union blocks, the lower blom being stopped by a positioning member passing through
a hole of the caves that operates as infiltration water discharge.
2. Assembling device according to the claim 1, and in conformity to the graphical
annexed representations for the objects outlined in the preamble.
