(57) An apparatus in which sheet material is decuried, for example as it leaves the fuser
of an electrophotographic printing machine. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes
a baffle type decurler (100) in which a sheet moving therethrough chooses one of three
paths and baffles, depending on the direction and amount of curl. Spring loaded baffles
(110, 111) in conjunction with idler rolls (112, 113) reverse bends the sheets in
two of the three paths. In another embodiment, the apparatus (200) includes off-set
nips (210, 213; 214, 215) for reverse binding a sheet. As the sheet leaves the fuser,
it is directed into one of two channels toward an off-set nip depending on the curl
in the sheet. The off-set nip in conjunction with an output baffle (204, 206) reverse
bends the sheet.
