| (54) | Teeth for use with earth moving equipment |
| (57) A shanked solid tooth (10) carries a pair of fastening members (42) in a transverse
slot in the shank (22). A rubber or neoprene block (44) is located between the fastening
members (42) to urge them outwardly. The tooth is in use received in an "U"-section
adapter (14), the fastening members are moved inwardly and they spring outwardly to
hold the shank in the adapter. The rear ends (48) of the fastening members (42) are
rounded and are received in recesses in an abutment member (52) that butts against
the rear of the slot. To remove the shank (22), the abutment member (52) is struck
transversely to the shank with a hammer blow which has the effect of breaking the
fastening members (48) so that they may be removed to facilitate removal of the shank
(22). A number of variations (inluding a hollow tooth) are also described. |
