    (54) Simple intertwined warp and weft fabric with the weft consisting of a number of threads

    (57) Fabric with simple weave characterized by a weft made up of a number of threads inserted simultaneously, even though of differentthichnesses (1a; 1b; 1c; ...), being noticeably greater in number and consistency than the warp (2; 2'), the weft having a continuous, zig-zag selvage (1,1') and the warp (2,2') doubly weaving (a) the weft while the weft singly weaves (b) the warp, the consistency of the weft (1a; 1b; 1c; ...) being such as to remain essentially rectilinear while the warp (2, 2') winds itself around it.

    Description

[0001] The subject of the invention is a simple intertwined warp and weft fabric with the weft consisting of a number of threads.

[0002] The innovation has a convenient and special application for fabrics which are preferably, although not exclusively, for furnishing such as, for example, carpets or similar fabrics.

[0003] The fabrics known at the present state of the technology are usually of a simple weave (intertwining of warp and weft) which present the inconvenience of generally being short-lasting and of limited resistance compared with results given by Turkish or Persian knotting.

[0004] The scope of this invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned inconveniences.

[0005] This invention, according to the characteristics given in the attached claims, solves the problem by realizing a fabric in simple weave which has the characteristics of the weft having a number of threads inserted simultaneously, even though they may be of different thicknesses, and their number and consistency being noticeably greater than the thread or threads of the warp, the weft being selvaged in a continuous zig-zag and the warp doubly weaving the weft while the weft singly weaves the warp, the consistency of the weft being such that it remains rectilinear while the warp winds itsef round it.

[0006] The advantages obtained from this solution consist essentially in the fact that the fabric has a greater resistance longitudinally as the threads have been designed not only to resist against the forces upon them, thereby reducing the relative wear, and combined with an effect which is totally different from the usual one.

[0007] The following explanation gives more derails of the invention together with the help of the drawings which give preferential solutions for realization, the execution details of which are not to be held as limiting but only as examples.

[0008] Figure 1 shows the system of intertwining of the fabric; Figure 2 gives a layout view of a defined part of the fabric; Figure 3 shows a section of the fabric in its complete width.

[0009] As can be seen from the above figures, the invention consists in a fabric of simple weave characterized by the weft having a number of threads inserted simultaneously even though they may be of different thicknesses (la; lb; 1c; ...), the number and consistency being noticeably greater than the thread or threads of the warp (2, 2'), the weft being selvaged in a continuous zig-zag (1, 1'), and the warp (2; 2') doubly weaving (a) the weft while the weft singly weaves (b) the warp, the consistency of the weft (la; 1b; 1c;...) being such that it remains rectilinear while the warp (2; 2') winds itself around it.

[0010] As can be seen from figure 1 the fabric presents a weave that has a weft with a number of threads (la; 1b; 1c;...) with a continuous zig-zag selvage (1, 1'), while the warp consists of single contrary-woven threads (2, 2') which tie two bundles of weft at a time.

[0011] For the sake of simplicity, Figure 1 shows only three weft threads whereas in reality they are preferably more than that, and for convenience's sake in Figure 2 they are six.

[0012] The weft threads are of a soft structure and up to 2-3mm in diameter in wool and substitutes, while the warp threads are about 1mm in diameter and of a compact and resistant material in cotton or a substitute.

[0013] Naturally, the execution details may be varied without altering the field of protection of the invention defined by the characteristics given in the attached claims.

    Claims

    1. Fabric with simple weave for carpets, mats and similar in particular, characterized by a weft made up of a number of threads inserted simultaneously, even though of different thicknesses (la; lb; lc;...), being noticeably greater in number and consistency than the warp (2; 2'), the weft having a continuous, zig-zag selvage (1, 1') and the warp (2, 2') doubly weaving (a) the weft while the weft singly weaves (b) the warp, the consistency of the weft (la; lb; lc;...) being such as to remain essentially rectilinear while the warp (2, 2') winds itself around it.

    2. Fabric according to claim 1. characterized by the fact that the weft threads are of soft structure and with a diameter up to 2-3mm in wool and substitutes, while the warp threads are about 1mm in diameter and composed of compact and resistant material such as cotton or substitute.
