    (54) Boat hull

    (57) A boat hull (l0) of increased lift and efficiency is described. Lift is imparted by having a pair of contoured channels (l8,l9) along the chines (20,2l) of the hull. The hull may be a single or multiple hull (l2,l4). In the case of multiple hulls (l2,l4) the contoured channels (l8,l9,52) may be provided along both the inner and outer edges. In a most preferred embodiment at least one hydrofoil (50) is mounted underneath the central bottom portion (l7) of the twin-hulled craft (both with and without contoured channels) between the two hulls (l2,l4). This mounting position provides the hull (l0) with the advantages of hydrofoil assistance without the obstruction of a convention hydrofoil mounting.
