    (54) A device for the controlled delivery of pasty substances

    (57) This invention relates to a delivering device for pasty substances, in particular depilatory waxes, in which a reservoir-applicator (10, 12) has a delivery slot (14) controlled by a freely rotatable knurled roller (16). The device comprises a cover element (18) with a shaped survace (20) for covering the delivery slot (14) and with supporting surfaces (24) for maintaining the device in a vertical position with its delivering head (12) down.

    Description

    [0001] The present invention concerns a device for the controlled delivery of pasty substances, particularly, if not exclusively, in the form of an applicator for depilatory wax, of the type comprising a container for the product and a delivery unit having a delivery slot controlled by a freely rotating knurled roller.

    [0002] More particularly, an object of the present invention is to provide a device as defined above, presenting a new shape and arrangement of parts, so as to make the device itself more practical and efficient in use, making it ever ready for use as an applicator of the stated pasty substance.

    [0003] According to the invention, for the achievement of the stated objects and of others which shall emerge from the following description, the device comprises a cover for the delivery unit having a flat surface destined to support and maintain the device in the vertical position with the delivery unit in the lower position.

    [0004] In this way, the following advantages are gained at the same time: protection of the delivery slot and roller from damage by external agents; avoiding the drying out of the pasty substance to be delivered, and the standing of the device on any supporting surface in such a position that the pasty substance flows to the delivery unit by gravity, and is thus immediately ready for use.

    [0005] The invention will now be described with reference to the enclosed drawings, for illustrative purposes only, where:

    figure 1. is a perspective view of a device according to the invention, in which the cover element is separated from the delivery unit;

    figure 2. is a cross-sectional view of the delivery unit of the device in fig. 1;

    figure 3. is a cross-sectional view corresponding to that of fig. 2. but in a plane rotated through 90 ;

    figure 4. is a perspective view of another embodiment of the cover element.

    [0006] With reference to the figures, the application delivery device illustrated in figs. 1 to 3 comprises a reservoir 10 for the product to be applied, which is preferably linked in a detachable way to the delivery unit 12, which in its turn comprises a delivery slot 14 in which a knurled roller 16 operates, turning freely on an axle and helping with the application of the pasty substance or depilatory wax.

    [0007] The delivery group 12 is in its turn enclosed in a cover element 18, which presents a side-wall 20 more or less semi-cylindrical in shape to cover the end area of the delivery unit 12, preventing the entry of foreign matter and the drying out of the pasty substance.

    [0008] side-wall 20 is mounted on end-plates 22 which are more or less square, with lower edges 24 resting on the flat support surface and constituting a base for the reservoir unit 10 - the delivery unit 12 - and the cover element 18. In this way, the delivery unit is always in a position in which the pasty substance is ready to be applied, filling the final part of the delivery unit by gravity.

    [0009] In fig. 4, the cover element 18 has substantially the same arrangement as in the preceding figure, but the load is spread not only over the transverse walls 24, but also over a pair of longitudinal walls 26. In both cases, the cover element 18 can be snap-fitted to the head 12 by lugs 28.

    Claims

    1. A device for the controlled delivery of pasty substances, particularly in the form of a depilatory wax applicator, comprising a reservoir for the product and a delivery unit having a delivery slot controlled by a freely turning knurled roller, characterized in that it comprises a cover element for the delivery unit, providing surfaces lying in a plane for the support and maintainance of the device in its vertical position, with the delivery unit in the lower position.

    2. A device according to Claim 1, in which the delivery unit is shaped substantially as an arch, characterized in that the cover element is shaped in a complementary way and said support surfaces are provided at the cover element extremities.

    3. A device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the cover element is substantially semi-cylindrical in shape with substantially rectangular support end-plates.

    4. A device according to Claims 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that said side-walls and/or the end-plates said the cover element have lugs and/or recesses to snap-lock onto the delivery unit.

    5. A device according to Claim 3 or 4, characterized in that said end-plates are joined by longitudinal walls, having edges resting on the same support plane of the end-plates edges.
