    (54) Taping apparatus


    (57) Apparatus for applying a length of pressure-­sensitive adhesive tape (T) from a supply roll (27) to a case (1) being fed forward to seal the case (1), in which the tape (T) is adhered to the case and pulled from the roll by the forward movement of the case, the tape being pressed against the case, the apparatus ha­ving a knife (37) operable to cut the tape to length, and being provided with a mechanism (103) operable in association with the knife (37) for controlling the ten­sion on the tape (T) when it is cut for repeatability of the length of cut, without the necessity for adjustment of the drag (101) on the drag (101) on the supply roll (27) on account of decrease in its diameter during operation, or generally from one supply roll to the next.
