    (54) Transducer shield


    (57) An improved shield (1A-3) for field sensing transducers (1A-2) used in magnetic storage devices has a single magnetic domain in the vicinity of the transducer (1A-2). It may also have a planar surface for the transducer (1A-2) to rest on, low magnetic reluctance for fields from the recording media, and stability against external magnetic fields, that is, high reluctance for external magnetic fields.
