    (57) A portable code transmitter comprises a storage device for storing a plurality of different codes, and a manually-operated selector switch for manually selecting one of the stored codes for transmission to the receiver. Also described is a wireless remote control system including such a portable code transmitter and a receiver for receiving and decoding the transmitted signal and for controlling a device in response thereto.
