    (54) A jacket which can be transformed into a rucksack

    (57) A jacket (10) provided with a front slide fastener (12) and a hood (16) has a pair of tapes fixed at their ends to the inside of the edge of the jacket. When the jacket (10) has been turned inside out, the tapes function as straps of a rucksack whose bottom and mouth are closed by respective cords (26, 24) associated with the bottom (10a) and the hood (16) of the jacket (10).

    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a jacket provided with a front slide fastener and a hood.

[0002] The object of the present invention is to provide a jacket of the above type which is very practical in use and has a dual function.

[0003] This object is achieved by virtue of the fact that the jacket comprises, in combination, a slide for the slide fastener which can be operated both externally and internally, first closure means provided in the hood, second closure means provided substantially at the lower edge of the jacket, and a pair of tapes fixed at their ends to the inside of the back of the jacket in such a way that, when the jacket has been turned inside out, the tapes act as the straps of a rucksack constituted by the inside-out jacket, the first and second closure means being adapted to close the mouth and the bottom of the rucksack.

[0004] By virtue of these characteristics, the jacket according to the invention can be used for sporting purposes and, according to circumstances, can be transformed into a rucksack for holding objects which are not particularly heavy, such as clothing, food, etc.

[0005] Further advantages and characteristics of the jacket according to the invention will become clear from the detailed description which follows, provided purely by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a front view of the jacket,

Figure 2 is a detail of Figure 1 on an enlarged scale,

Figure 3 is a rear view of the jacket of Figure 1,

Figure 4 is a rear view of the rucksack produced by turning the jacket inside out, in the open condition,

Figure 5 is a view taken on the arrow V of Figure 4, and

Figure 6 is a similar view to Figure 4, illustrating the rucksack in its closed configuration.

[0006] With reference to the drawings, a fabric jacket for sports use having a front slide fastener 12, a round collar 14 and a hood 16 is generally indicated 10. As illustrated in Figure 2, the slide fastener 12 has a slide 18 provided with operating tags 18a and 18b for operating the zip from outside or inside the jacket 10 respectively.

[0007] In the lower part of the jacket, a flap 22 has eyelets 22a for cooperating with corresponding fastenings 22b upon closure over the slide fastener 12.

[0008] Along the whole of its perimeter, the hood 16 has a casing 15, formed, for example, in the lining, in which is inserted a first cord 24 whose ends 24a emerge from the casing 15 adjacent the upper end of the slide fastener 12; similarly, the lower edge 10a of the jacket has a casing 25 is which is inserted a second cord 26 whose ends 26a emerge in correspondence with the lower end of the slide fastener 12.

[0009] Figures 4 and 5 illustrate the jacket in the inside-out condition, with the slide fastener closed. Two tapes 28 are sewn at their ends 28a to the fabric of the inside D of the back of the jacket 10. Auxiliary tapes 30 are also sewn to the tapes 28 and can be joined together reversibly by means of press studs 30a.

[0010] It is clear that, in the configuration illustrated in Figures 4 and 5, the jacket 10 is like a rucksack Z which has an open bottom F and an open mouth B, and in which the tapes 28 act as carrying straps.

[0011] The second cord 26 and the first cord 24 are used to close the bottom F and the mouth B of the rucksack Z respectively, their ends being tied as clearly illustrated in Figure 6.

[0012] As an alternative to cords for closing the bottom and the mouth of the rucksack, press studs, ties or similar means may be used.

    Claims

    1. A jacket provided with a front slide fastener and a hood, characterised in that it comprises in combination:
    - an externally and internally operable pull (18) for the slide fastener (12),
    - first closure means (24) situated in the hood (16)
    - second closure means situated substantially at the lower edge (10a) of the jacket (10), and
    - a pair of tapes (28) fixed at their ends (28a) to the inside of the back (D) of the jacket (10) in such a way that, when the jacket has been turned inside-out, the tapes act as the straps of a rucksack (Z) constituted by the inside-out jacket (10), the first and second closure means (24, 26) being adapted to close the mouth (B) and the bottom (F) of the rucksack (Z).

    2. A jacket according to Claim 1, characterised in that the first closure means comprise a first cord (24) situated in a first casing (15) around substantially the whole edge of the hood (16) and having ends (24a) emerging from the casing adjacent the slide fastener (12), and in that the second closure means comprise a second cord (26) situated in a second casing (25) and having ends (26a) emerging from the second casing (25) in correspondence with the slide fastener (12).

    3. A jacket according to Claim 1, characterised in that the tapes (28) are reversibly connectible to each other by means of auxiliary tapes (30).
