    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a retractable shoulder-belt for carrying a motorcyclist helmet, a bag or like.

[0002] More particularly, the present invention relates to a device of the type mentioned above, which allows a helmet, or a bag to be carried when the same is not employed, without engaging the hands.

[0003] The problem of how a helmet can be carried when going on foot has always been much felt by motorcyclists, being sometimes a reason for inducing a motorcyclist to give up the use of the helmet itself.

[0004] On the other hand, it can be easily understood that the fact of having a hand engaged for carrying the helmet or the bag is a very uncomfortable one when going for a walk or for some shopping.

[0005] Some solutions to the problem has been recently suggested.

[0006] More particularly, in addition to the adoption of the old solution consisting in securing the helmet to the chain employed for fastening the motorcycle, the proposal has been made of employing a device fastened to the motorcycle and provided with one or two members for securing the helmet itself.

[0007] Apart from the fact, which cannot be completely neglected, that both the solutions mentioned above, especially the first one, can be employed in the case of crash helmets only, they also show some drawbacks that make their adoption not very advantageous.

[0008] Indeed, if the helmet is left fastened to the motorcycle, it gets wet in case of rain and, anyway, it gets dirty more easily.

[0009] Moreover, as the helmet is left practically unguarded, the possibility that it is stolen increases quite notably.

[0010] In order to obviate the drawbacks mentioned above, the present invention aims at supplying a device that allows the motorcyclist helmet or a bag to be carried without engaging the hands, so that it is possible not to leave the same fastened to the motorcycle.

[0011] It is a further object of the present invention the realization of a device performing the functions mentioned above, which is also practical and not bulky, and which can be possibly employed also for carrying a key-ring so that its employment when the motorcycle is used becomes and obvious and natural habit.

[0012] Accordingly, it is a specific object of the present invention a retractable shoulder-belt for carrying a helmet, especially a motorcyclist helmet, said shoulder-belt consisting of a container member provided with at least one opening; as well as a coiler member which is so assembled as to be rotatable around a pin inside said container member which is fastened to an end of said container member and, at the other end, where it goes out of said opening of the container member, to said coiler member; of a return spring member acting on said coiler member; of a closing member of said container member; and of a hook arranged outside said assembly consisting of the container member and of the closing member.

[0013] Preferably according to the present invention said spring member is fastened, at one end, to the central pin of said container member and, at the other end, to the inside part of said coiler member.

[0014] The hook provided outside the assembly of container member-closing member can be of the open type which can be snapped, or can be of the spring-clip type or the like and, preferably, is arranged on the outside surface of said closing member.

[0015] Said coiler member can be so shaped as to act as a guide for winding the belt.

[0016] The present invention will be disclosed in the following for illustrative but not for limitative purposes with particular reference to the figures of the enclosed drawings, wherein:

    Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device according to the invention;

Figure 2 is an exploded view of the device shown in Figure 1; and

Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the device according to the invention in the open position.

[0017] With reference now to the Figures mentioned above, number 1 points out the retractable shoulder-belt device as a whole for carrying a motorcyclist helmet.

[0018] Said device 1 comprises a container 2 whose inner space 3 is substantially of circular shape and is provided at the front part with two openings 4 and 5 out of which the belt 6 comes out.

[0019] In addition, said container 2 has in its central part a pin 7 on which the coiler member 9 is inserted through the corresponding hole 8.

[0020] One end of the belt 6 is fastened to said coiler member 9, on its outside part, whereas the other end of the belt itself is fastened inside said container 2.

[0021] In order to avoid that, when the belt is under the pulling stress such stress be not concentrated at the fastening point to the coiler member, said belt 6 can be provided with a projecting part 15 abutting to the inside part of said opening 5.

[0022] Obviously, said coiler member 9 can rotate freely about the pin 7.

[0023] The spring 10 is arranged inside said member 9, such spring hav ing a tab 11 coupled to the channel 12 of said pin 7, whereas the other end of the same is fastened to the member 9 itself.

[0024] Finally, the closure 13 is arranged on said container 2, the hook 14 for fastening the helmet being provided on said closure.

[0025] As can be observed in Figure 3, both ends of said belt 6 can be fastened to the coiler member 9, so that in this instance both sides of the belt 6 will wind on said coiler member 9.

[0026] In the rest position with the spring 10 unloaded, the device according to the present invention shows as illustrated in Figure 1.

[0027] When the helmet or the bag is hooked to the hook 14 through the closing ring which the helmets are usually provided with, or the handle of the bag, or by means of the small fastening bend of the helmet, or through any other suitable means, passing the belt 6 over the shoulder, said device 1 goes downward as a result of the weight of the helmet itself, so that the belt 6 becomes stretched and it comes out of said container 2 inside which the belt itself is coiled, and the spring 10 becomes loaded.

[0028] Accordingly, the assembly consisting of helmet-device 1 gives rise to a structure which is smaller to a usual long-strap bag and the helmet can be carried very easily and with no encumbrance for the wearer of the same.

[0029] When the device 1 of the present invention is removed from the shoulder, the belt 6 winds again on the member 9 and the device 1 takes on again its starting configuration, with a very reduced encumbrance.

[0030] In order to employ the device 1 of the present invention for carrying keys it will be sufficient for instance to supply the same with a small ring or any other similar means by which the keys can be fastened to the belt 6, or possibly, to the container 2.

[0031] It is quite clear that the device according to the present invention as applied to the case in which a motorcyclist helmet is to be carried, can be also employed without any change in the technical aspects of the same, for carrying the most different things.

[0032] The present invention has been disclosed according to some preferred embodiments of the same, but it is to be understood that modifications and changes can be introduced in the same by those who are skilled in the art, without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention for which a priority right is claimed.
