    (54) A package containing a suture


    (57) A suture-containing package has a first panel (1) and a second panel (2) thermally bonded together along at least two edges to form a suture compartment (5) therebetween, the suture compartment (5) including apertures (6 and 7) which allow removable pins to extend there through around which the suture (14) is initially wound, the first panel (1) including a transverse tear line (8), and the second panel (2) having a cutaway portion forming an inclined edge (11) which allows an upper portion (9) of the first panel (1) to protrude beyond the second panel (2) to form a tab (9ʹ) which the user can grasp so as to tear the first panel (1) along the tear line (8), a suture (14) being accommodated within the suture compartment (5) with its end portions (14ʹ, 15) located outside the compartment (5).
