Use of a branched carboxylic acid as additive for an alkaline detergent composition
for cleaning metallic articles in an electrolytic cleaning operation |
(57) An additive for an alkaline detergent comprising a branched carboxylic acid represented
by the following formula (I):
RCOOM (I)
in which R represents a branched aliphatic hydrocarbon group having a branched chain
of a C₁₋₁₄ carbon atom content, with a total carbon atom content of 8 - 24, and M
represents a hydrogen an atom, an alkali metal, an alkali earth metal, an aliphatic
amine having a C₁₋₄ carbon atom content, ammonia, or alkanolamine. The additive is
useful as a component of an alkali-type detergent, and, when added to an alkali-type
detergent, provides excellent detergency, promotes durability of the detergent, improves
the electro-flow characteristics and detergent liquid conditions during electrolytic
cleaning, and reduces the amount of foam.
