    (54) Auxiliary flue for furnaces


    (57) In a furnace (10) with a burner (12, 13) heating a furnace chamber (11) having an operational discharge and the operation of the furnace (10) occasionally including a secondary operation producing physical contaminants harmful to part of the operational discharge, an improvement comprising an auxiliary vent (14) and means to selectively operate said auxiliary vents (14) to allow the physical contaminants from the secondary operation to depart the furnace chamber (11) independently of the part of the operational discharge of the furnace that would be harmed by the physical contaminants.
