BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a method for making a figured cloth or fabric, having
a small-square or checked pattern, of different colours or, if desired, of a plain
colour.
[0002] According to a further aspect, the invention also relate to a figured cloth made
by the inventive method.
[0003] As is known, the so-called figured fabrics, that is fabrics provided with ornamental
and decorative patterns of varying characteristics, are presently made by using suitable
weaving machines.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The task of the present invention is to provide a method for making a figured cloth
or fabric able of providing the figured fabric with a chromatic effect, that is a
checked pattern region, separated by a bottom coloured region so as to reflect in
a different way the impinging light.
[0005] According to one aspect of the invention, the above task, as well as other objects
which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a method for making a
figured fabric or cloth, characterized in that it comprises the step of providing
on on a conventional Gobelin texture,a different interlaced pattern, that is a bound
double fabric or a bound triple fabric, and the step of causing the warp yarns to
float so as to obtain on said interlaced Gobelin texture a checked pattern.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0006] Further characteristics and advantages of the method for making a figured fabric
according to the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the
following detailed description of the preferred embodiment thereof, with reference
to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 schematically shows a double interlacing texture;
Fig. 2 is another schematic view illustrating a triple interlacing texture;
Fig. 3 illustrates a portion of a fabric or cloth piece made by the method according
to the invention; and
Fig. 4 illustrates a portion of a fabric or cloth piece with a relief pattern.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0007] With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings, the method for making
a figured fabric according to the invention comprises the step of forming, on a conventional
Gobelin texture, a different interlaced pattern, that is a bound double fabric or
a bound triple fabric.
[0008] In order to obtain the desired checked pattern on the top or right face of the fabric,
the method according to the invention further comprises the step of causing the warp
yarns of said Gobelin texture to float.
[0009] More specifically, the single small squares 2 of the checked pattern, afford the
possibility, by exploiting the characteristics of the tubular-Gobelin texture, of
obtaining a transparency of the underlaying weft.
[0010] Those same small squares, accordingly, provide, on a chain textile effect, a mixed
chromatic effect (that is a warp-weft type of effect).
[0011] It should be moreover pointed out that the alternance of the mentioned two interlacings,
that is a double and triple interlacing, on the Gobelin texture, provides a chromatic
effect (checked effect) which is separated from a bottom or coloured region, which
effect can be hardly obtained by other methods.
[0012] As shown in Fig. 4, the single small squares are made with a plain colour and, owing
to their contrast from the bottom colour, they will provide a characteristic effect
of clear and dark regions(warp/weft type of effect) on a textile chain effect.
[0013] In this connection it should be further pointed out that the alternance of the mentioned
two double and triple interlacings, on a Gobelin texture, provides a colour contrast
(the checked region) which is separated from a bottom (colour) region, which effect,
as aforesaid, can be hardly obtained by other methods and interlacings.
[0014] In Figures 1 and 2, the reference number 3 shows the bottom weft, the reference number
4 indicates the pile weft, 5 indicates a first, preferably red, coloured yarn, the
reference number 6 indicates a second coloured yarn, preferably a yellow yarn, the
reference number 7 indicates a third coloured yarn, preferably a blue yarn.
[0015] On the other hand, in the fabric of Fig. 4 is used a coloured pattern on a coloured
pattern.
[0016] Moreover, the reference letter F indicates the bottom, C the coloured weft and T
the small weft.
[0017] According to a preferred embodiment, the fabric will have five bodies and three wefts,
with a raised small-square chromatic effect.
[0018] More specifically, the warp yarns consist of coloured yarns having, respectively,
red, black, blue, black and gold colours; the yarn frame is of 19,200 in 140x2 cm
with 36 insertions for centimeter.
[0019] It should be apparent that the figured fabric according to the invention may also
be made starting from different fiber yarns, both of synthetic and natural type.
[0020] From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves
the intended task.
[0021] While the invention has been disclosed with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof,
it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible to many modifications
and variations all of which will come within the spirit and scope of the invention
as defined in the appended claims.
