    (54) A process for coking and hydroconversion of hydrocarbons


    (57) A hydrocarbonaceous feed, such as petroleum vacuum distillation bottoms, is upgraded by a combination coking and catalytic slurry hydroconversion process wherein a bottoms fraction (30) from coking (12) is passed through a microfiltration system (3) to remove coke fines, the filtrate is passed (34) to a slurry hydroconversion zone (4), and the bottoms fraction (58) from the slurry hydroconversion zone is also passed through a microfiltration system (6) to remove catalyst particles.
