    (54) Folding machines

    (57) A folding machine capable of use with a reinforcing tape inserted in the fold of the workpiece edge has a tape feed arrangement (70) comprising a continuously rotating cylindrical or convex roll (76), which is located between a supply (reel R) and an operating locality of the machine, and which provides a low-friction surface over which a single turn of tape (T) can be wound, guides (80) being provided for preventing the tape on said surface from binding on itself. In operation, the application of a pulling force to the leading end of the tape (T) causes the single turn to tighten on the surface of the roll (76) and in turn apply a drawing force to the tape to draw it from the reel (R). The relaxing of the pulling force on the leading end discontinues the drawing of tape from the reel.
