(57) Process for the conversion of a heavy oil fraction into lighter fractions, comprising
passing a heavy oil fraction, having a low content of asphaltenic constituents together
with a hydrogen containing gas stream through a reaction zone containing a non-acidic,
hydrogen activating catalyst at a temperature of 400-550 ° C and a hydrogen partial
pressure of 10-60 bar.
