    (54) Protective element for the hand in carrying bags with handles or the like

    (57) Protective element for the hand in carrying bags with handles or the like, consisting of a body (1) appreciably parallelopipedic provided on one of its sides with a lengthwise groove (2) designed to hold the handle of the bag or bags and on the opposite side a series of parallel grooves (5) designed to fit with the fingers of the user, being finished on the edges of the upper ends in a rounded form to prevent the sharp edges from cutting into the handles of the bags.

    Description

[0001] This invention refers to a protective element for the hand in carrying bags with handles or the like.

[0002] The protective element is preferably made of plastic and of a construction to be characterized for its strength as well as light weight.

[0003] With the use of this element the inconveniences and discomforts are eliminated for persons in carrying, for example, bags with handles, since due to the weight of the bags themselves, the handles generally press against a narrow area of the fingers thereby causing considerable discomfort.

[0004] The use of this element functions as a protector to avoid the discomfort felt in the hand by the pressure of the handles themselves and also creates a uniform distribution of pressure of the handles on the element.

[0005] The element is preferably made of a plastic material, for example from a sheet formed by a mold such that the element features a generally prismatic shape and a U-section.

[0006] The parallel and lateral branches of the U feature a shape and height sufficient to join the handle or handles of the bags in the groove which forms the U-section.

[0007] The U-groove features a rounded convex curve on its lengthwise ends in order to prevent the handles, which are generally made of plastic, from breaking, which could happen if the edges were sharp.

[0008] One fundamental characteristic of the element is its optimal adaptability to the area of the fingers of the hand, where the lower part of the horizontal branch of the U features grooves regularly distributed to help in the fitting of the fingers in said grooves. Moreover, the end grooves are finished with lateral extensions in order to prevent the element from slipping sideways with respect to the position of the hand.

[0009] One of the side walls corresponding to the parallel branches of the U can feature several notches uniformly distributed lengthwise which have the shape of the teeth of a comb.

[0010] The materials that the element is made of can be: besides plastic, metal, wood or any other material that could easily conform to the element's shape.

[0011] In order to offer a better understanding not only of the elements construction, but also the way the element is to be used, a practical example for use of the invention is given as follows, with this being merely a non-limitative example of the invention, such as is shown in the drawings attached; in which:

Figure 1 shows an exploded view of the element.

Figure 2 shows a side view of figure 1.

Figure 3 shows a top view of the element slightly modified with respect to the representations in figures 1 and 2.

[0012] Element 1 which is represented in the drawings, preferably made of plastic, is a laminar structure and features a generaly prismatic shape formed to provide a lengthwise groove in the U-section, whose parallel and lateral branches provide a height sufficient to protect the lateral displacement of the handle of the bag, not shown.

[0013] The horizontal branch 4 which constitutes the bottom of the groove is convex, at least at its ends, to avoid having sharp edges at the lengthwise ends.

[0014] The lower part of the element features several concave grooves 5 which help with the fitting of the element to the fingers of the hand and furthermore each of the end grooves can have vertical extensions 6.

[0015] The facing lateral branches can be straight and feature several notches close together and parallel which have the form of the teeth of a comb. In figure 3 the lateral branches of the element are represented as being convex in shape.

[0016] Having sufficiently disclosed the nature of the invention, as well as how it is embodied, it should be mentioned that the lay-out which has been indicated and illustrated in the attached drawings, may be subject to detail modifications provided that the basic principle is not altered, such as to furnish one side with a hole so as to use same as a keychain.

    Claims

1.- Protective element for the hand in carrying bags with handles or the like; characterized because it consists of a body preferably prismatic in shape and made of plastic which features lengthwise a grooved side section in the general form of a U, in which the handles of the bag and whose groove is finished at the ends with convex areas; while the outer part of the horizontal branch of the U appear be formed with concave grooves in line and close together, separated by parallel extensions at the ends of the body of the element itself, with the grooves serving to join with the fingers of the hand of the user.

2.- Protective element according to claim 1, characterized because at least one of the facing parallel branches of the U features lengthwise and on its free end several vertical notches which face one another which have the form of the teeth of a comb.
