Dual phase adsorption and treatment |
(57) Impurities, which may include soaps, gums, phospholipids and pigments, can be removed
from chemically or physically refined glyceride oils in a dual phase adsorption and
treatment process. In the first phase, the oil is contacted with amorphous silica
to remove phospholipids and soaps or gums or both. In the second phase, the oil is
passed through a packed bed of a pigment removal agent for decolorizing glyceride
oils.
