[0001] The present invention relates to a device for looms for manufacturing mats.
[0002] In manufacturing mats, it is known to use looms adapted to make a continuos and single-weft
weaving, by means of a shuttle, or to make a weaving with weft cut at the listing,
by means of clips or other devices.
[0003] The aim of the present invention is to provide a device for looms for manufacturing
mats adapted to make a different type of weaving by means of a mechanically simple
structure.
[0004] Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a structurally simple device,
thus reliable and economically convenient.
[0005] A further object of the invention is to provide an aesthetically original weaving
having improved durability.
[0006] The above aim, as well as these and other objects that will be more apparent later,
are achieved by a device for looms for manufacturing mats, characterized in that it
comprises a clip member adapted to carry the weft through the warp, said clip device
comprising a pair of plates forming a hollow space, said pair of plates supporting
at least two rollers, a first roller for carrying a weft thread when the clip member
is moving in said warp, a second roller for carrying said weft thread when said clip
member is moving out of said warp.
[0007] Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will be more apparent by
the following description of an embodiment of the invention, illustrated,by way of
example,in the enclosed drawings in which
Fig. 1 is a schematic partial isometric view of a loom;
Fig. 2 schematically shows the weaving of a mat according to the invention;
Fig. 3 is a partially open plan view of the clip member;
Fig. 4 is a partially sectioned side view of the clip member of fig. 3.
[0008] With reference to the cited figures, it is shown a per se known loom, generally designated
by the reference numeral 1, adapted to manufacture mats.
[0009] According to the invention the mat weaving is obtained by carrying the weft 2 through
the warp 3, by means of a clip element 4 operated by a clip holder rod 5 connected
to the loom elements.
[0010] The clip member 4 comprises a pair of plates 6 having a substantially triangular
shape with rounded vertexes 7,8 and a tail 9 fastened to the rod 5.
[0011] The plates 7,8 are furthermore fastened at the vertexes 7 and support pivots 10,
11, 12 respectively supporting a first roller 13, a second roller 14 and a third roller
15.
[0012] In particular, the first roller 13 and second roller 14 are arranged substantially
at the axis along which moves the clip holder rod 5, while the third roller 15 is
offset relatively to said axis.
[0013] Moving in the warp (from left to right according to figures 2 and 3), the clip member
4 carries a weft thread 2 on the first roller 13, cooperating with the third roller
15, as illustrated by full lines in fig. 3.
[0014] This type of movement of the clip member 4 provides a continuos double-weft weaving
(illustrated in fig. 2); in this manner on one side (at the left in fig. 2), a loop
16 forms around the last warp thread 3a, thus closing the side warp thread, while
on the opposite side the weft thread forms a loop 17 around itself and it is therefore
necessary to close the stitch.
[0015] Advantageously, it is provided a so called "English listing" formed with additional
warp threads 18, in a per se known manner.
[0016] It has been seen in practice how the device according to the invention achieves the
intended aim and objects providing a mat having a characteristic weaving by means
of a simple and reliable structure.
[0017] An advantage of the structure lies in the lower cost of the device which furthermore
allows a more efficient working of the mat.
[0018] The device according to the invention may have numerous modifications and variations,
all within the inventive concept; furthermore, all the details may be substituted
with technically equivalent elements.
[0019] The materials employed, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to the specific
needs and the state of the art.
[0020] Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs,
those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility
of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect
on the scope of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
