    (54) Athletic shoe having an insert member


    (57) An insert (56) for an athletic shoe is described. The insert (56) is generally used in conjunction with other shoe components to provide additional stability to a shoe sole. The insert member (56) includes a central body (58) and a plurality of insert extensions (60 - 72) which extend outwardly from the central body (58). The extensions (60 - 72) may cooperate with lugs of an outsole.
