    (54) Tilt slider

    (57) A pivoting and sliding closure assembly particularly for windows and patio doors. The assembly rides in a guide channel (27a) of a frame (20) upon a pivot shoe assembly which comprising one pivot shoe (Bc) on which a closure member (30) can pivot away from the channel (27a), and another pivot shoe (Bd) having a latch which latches the closure member (30) in a slidable position when the closure member (30) is pivoted to its latched position. The pivot shoes (Bc,Bd) are connected together by bars (F3,F4) Each pivot shoe (Bc, Bd) includes a cam member (Cc, Cd) which is rotated on pivoting of the closure member (30) away from the channel (27a) and forces legs (B1,B2) of the shoe (Bc,Bd) into engagement with side walls (27i,27ii) of the channel (27a) to lock the pivot shoe (Bc,Bd) in position in the channel (27a). Each pivot shoe (Bc,Bd) has a roller (R) to facilitate movement of the shoe (Bc,Bd) in the channel (27a). Pivot shoe assemblies may be provided on opposite edges of the closure member (30).
