    (54) Ink jet apparatus and method for installing an ink jet head on an ink jet apparatus


    (57) An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a mounting portion (501A) on which an ink jet cartridge (514) is detachably mounted, the cartridge having a connector (512) and a recording head portion (507) for discharging ink to perform image recording. The mounting portion (501A) has a body connector (504) associated therewith for electrically connecting the connector of the cartridge (512) to the apparatus. A recording head positioner (510) positions the recording head portion (507) of the cartridge on the mounting portion (501A). An operation device displaces the cartridge (514) and the body connector relative to each other to connect the body connector (504) to the cartridge connector (512).
