(57) A method for forming cellular shades using sheer materials. Strips of sheer material are creased to define tabs (20a) and central portions (20b). Strips (28) of a non-bonding material are placed over the central portions. Beads of adhesive (32) are placed over the tabs and these assemblies are stacked, whereby the tabs are adhered to the central portions of the successive strip, while the non-bonding material prevents adhesion of the tabs to the central portions of the corresponding strips. When the adhesive has set, the non-bonding strips can be conveniently removed, yielding a cellular shade which can be formed of substantially any fabric material.
