    (54) Stabilized compositions containing peroxygen compounds


    (57) Stabilized bleach compositions are disclosed comprising peroxygen compounds or a precursor thereof and a stabilizing amount of a polyhydroxamic acid or salt thereof wherein a polymer has a plurality of hydroxamato |groups of the formula:

    where R represents hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms in the alkyl group.
